Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

MP office 50% to come in starting Oct. 26th

As Covid rates spike back up, let’s bring everyone back in. Good way to get rid of the employees at that location. Don’t have to worry about RIFs.

Manager asked on call what is the thought behind bringing everyone in as numbers rise. HR couldn’t answer that.

My hub site has reported 3 new cases in the last two weeks. Doubt I will be back in the office in before 6 more months.

And that idea was shot down! Someone realized that would be a legal nightmare.

They delayed the start date to next week because of cases rising! I think they are trying to keep us on our toes, making us think that we are really are to go in during a pandemic. id–ts!

To follow up on the previous post. You will be vested for prior company matches but will not get a company match this year if you are RIF’d prior to Dec 15th... Cheap bast@#ds.

They don’t have rooms for nursing mothers. I hope people are ok with a few ladies taking a pump out at their desk.

They will have a lot of people to RIF this time if that is true. Lots of exceptions being asked for (which is not shocking, what did these id–ts expect?)

Know couple Eng from mpls got permission to wfh and got RIF in July

Be careful: a colleague got permission to WFH on the basis of being in a high risk group. This was shortly before we were all sent home. That person got caught in the RIF a few months later.

Email HR and cc your manager. My DR did it and got approved same day. I did not need to approve anything.

Folks, there is also an option, where one could use discretionary power to opt-out of work from office request. You may not have to show any proof. I have heard that a number of employees are try to use this option. It has not been conveyed to the employees clearly. Your manager has to agree with this. Hope it helps.

If CDC says you can do any activity as long as you are wearing a mask. Why are we allowed to take our masks off while at our desks?

1ezy; unfortunately state governments in NJ and NY are turning a blind eye to violations from large employers. Back in April/May they were taking action but are now too scared with soaring unemployment. CDC has also changed its tune and is saying that you can do any activity provided you wear a mask

What about the NJ executive order that requires you to work from home if you can? That sowcufycally calls out office work.

“ Workplaces that do not have walk-in customers or products for sale, including office spaces, were never closed, but must allow employees to work remotely if their job can be performed remotely.”

The order is still in place. This sounds like a violation of it that will put people at risk.

Someone who is affected should report them. You can do so anonymously.

What does state have to say about this. Jersey is still under if you CAN work from home, do so.

Not seeing how any office job could be told they must work in an office until that is lifted.

@xry here...I was expecting that because the tone of this thread quickly went to a hostile "us vs them". Point being, don't spew on the people whose jobs are suitable for WFH just because you choose to stay in a job that isn't.

The choices we've made have placed us in the positions we're in now. It has nothing to do with being "better" or "more valuable" or braver or more chicken$#!+ than the next person. Each of us is trying to get the best result for ourselves and our families.

The XLT has decided that, in the short term, certain jobs can and others cannot be done from home. What happens to the group you're in has little to do with the other group, so leave us alone, and if you don't like your situation, find a different job.

I hope everyone in this office is applying elsewhere. Between Charlotte move, Houston move, furloughs, no raises and now this. Get the hell out!

@xry
There is definitely a more socially acceptable way to put this, but I don't really care. There are technicians with 2-4 year degrees, engineers with 4-8 years of college degrees, and management with various levels of education, all of which chose to be valuable contribution to society. We are so glad you worked so hard on your liberal arts degree, so you could land a job as an overpaid phone jockey, to either hide under your home office desk, afraid of the boogeyman, or too damn lazy to get back out into the real world. Or did you earn your position on your knees?

@huh, there is no socially acceptable way to say this, BUT some of us deliberately earned college degrees that positioned us for office work as opposed to production work. It doesn't mean we think we're any better than you, we just pursued what we wanted for ourselves.

And most office jobs can be done from home these days.

I don't think everyone will be "crammed" back into the cubes. Alternating weeks will lessen the number of folks.
More importantly, after all the RIFs, there will be a lot of room. In my case, I will be the only one on my row. That is, of course, until they realign sites.

I understand that most work well at home and actually put in extra hours. Just can't say that holds true for everyone. I know a team I work with have folks that have a lot of appointments.

And I know responses will be that those managers should handle those situations.

As stated in other posts by others HON is clear that they want folks to work at the office.

Each person can accept that or not. Freedom of choice.

@huh+17qtbVMc So let's force everyone who can work effectively from home to cram back into cubicles with those who must work in the office, just because It Ain't Fair? Why not just give everyone in America a nasal mist of virus, in the name of Fairness, and get it over with?

At Aero Deer Valley, they plan return in stages. Meaning that 1/3 of people will come in during rotating weeks. Makes no sense, since we will still be collaborating with our other 2/3 of team still WFH. Who knows when all will be required to return. Maybe after we all certify we have received a COVID19 vaccine.

And why are your lives so much more valuable and more fragile than the 100's of production technicians, engineers, managers and support personnel that have actually done their jobs inside of hon locations the entire run of this fear hype , so that you still have jobs to go back to???

Yeah let’s tell everyone their positions are being cut or they’re forced to move to Houston, then a week later invite them all back into the office! Morale booster!!

They have no valid reason to put their employees at risk, who can work 100% from home.
