For once I'd like to see a good employee be promoted in favor of boss' buddies. For f—ing once!

This company began the downward slide the day after divestiture. Original AT&T had Leadership. The baby Bells favored and praised social promotee's, EEO candidates, family members and girl-friends.
Man, the stories that I could tell!
I promoted three on merit. Two got band uplifts and one got an in band raise.
I've no reason to hide behind my team. I came from the ranks as a voice tech and worked all the flavors of the T.
There's at leat four more I want to promote, but can't. They totally deserve it, but when you are presented with bs it's near impossible.
My team are amazing. They deserve to stay and I will fall on my sword if it means the younger folk get another year.
We are about to find out too as we heard today. I volunteered.
If my team are hit, I'm gonna lead from the front. I'm also a Veteran, so I stand by my word.
There are plenty of hangers on with no real skills who have made L3 or above. I struggle to see their value.
Watch this space.
If you know what your doing the supervisor worries that his charade of incompetence will be revealed. The supervisor does not want to go back to cleaning toilets so workers take the blame for poor spreadsheets. Stinky stanky will fire the lowly managers.
I have seen too much favoritism in this company but hard work does pay off, even if your not the favorite, numbers speak. I can vouch for that.
That cronyism is all over T, even worse down in Mexico i.e. you get promoted only if you come from Venezuela or are a legacy employee from Nextel (CIO, CTO, VPs, AVPs) all with no real achievements for T whatsoever. They excel at arselicking; even gender quotas a getting ridiculous trying to compensate for all the incompetency and cover their lack of skills.
Good employees, high performers, innovators, are diminished and treated as a threat.
So sad corruption it's (deeply) rooted into T's core and values.
