Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

New Airport Manager

I left my previous job of 6 years to take what I thought was going to be a great airport management job with Hertz. I started about five weeks ago and I am bow really stressed. I didnt do my homework, and now learned about tbe bad state of finances and I dont know if I should start looking for other work. Never knew this website existed until yesterday. I also didnt give two week notification to other job because i felt pressured into starting quick. I only saw pretty good reviews on Indeed and Glassdoor. Help

Just took a cash advance on my credit card for $4000 and bought shares of HTZ. My GM promised me that I will double or triple my money by June. He is the best mentor around, and I he texts me all the time now too.

If you think getting sent to another location to help out is a good thing, get ready. You will work like an animal. The only thing you’ll get out of that hotel is a bed. You’ll be too tired to do anything else....

What region are you in?

Glad things are going better now. Just remember having a GM in your corner doesn’t help when the company liquidates.

Things are going great at Hertz for me now. My GM is sending me go another location to help out for a few weeks that is poorly staffed. I will be staying at a nice hotel and will havey meals paid for. I feel like my GM has really taken an interest in my career. I am a little worried about working a ton of hours while I am at the location, but I will learn a lot.

Stop stressing about your job. What I have learned at Hertz is you just need friends. Its all about developing and maintaining a strong network. I have moved up from HLE to Airport and have had no problems, and I am not really a good performer per say but I have people backing me. When others got let go that worked harder than me I was a bit surprised, but they didn't have connections. Make friends, and you will be golden.

Just stay close to the GM and you will be fine. Give him whatever he wants and you will be fine. Create an outside discrete relationship and you will stay ahead of workforce reductions, and will be considered for promotions as well. You will be fine, and stop worrying.

Don't listen to these negative unemployed trolls. These former employees are just jealous they didn't make the cut. Hertz ain't going anywhere, and I know for a fact that Paul's long term plan will create lots of opportunities for talented employees. Enjoy the ride tonight, but don't get roo comfortable in the L4, because Hertz loves to keep management performance in line by using fleet privledges as leverage.

Oh ok new manager. Be sure to also buy as much Hertz stock as you can and quickly as you blow your way to becoming a director. Hey, is that a knock on your door from the publisher’s clearing house with your lottery winnings? They have balloons for you as well. mo–n.

Hello all-

I actually feel much better about my decision to come to Hertz. I sat down with my GM today and explained concerns. He laid out all his insight and I now understand the short term issue with Hertz, and how much stronger we will be after the pandemic is over and once thw new CEO gets his strategy going. He also assured me that I will be a Director by next fall if I can continue to perform. I even got to take a L4 home today. Feeling really good today.

You didn't do your homework? You thought joining a company that just laid off 10,000 people and filed for Chapter 11 was a good idea? Now you are stressed and still asking if you should stay the course?
Stress and pressure will only get worse any thoughts of it going away is crazy. Whoever interviewed you really sold you some magoc beans.

Lol Don't get too worked up! These guys are all correct about the company, but it's not falling apart next week, so:

  1. Breath
  2. Review that Resume
  3. Apply to new jobs
  4. Interview like you've never interviewed before

I'll tell you some inside info: I've been a mid to high level manager for years, I've known a lot of people who leave the company and each and every single one is happier, healthier, and wealthier. Don't let your frustration get the best of you - this is going to be emotional, so prepare and get the HELL OUT!

Look, evaluate your options. As long as you have a paycheck and benefits, do not rush into decision. Now you have more info, make the best decision for you and your family if you have one. It will be tough with Hertz but you have to do what's best for YOU. No access to car is worth you not being happy or secure. Be smart

If you want to get promoted to GM start practicing blowing a banana so that you are a qualified applicant. Serious. Run, don’t walk.

Companies that get better after bankruptcy have a viable business model. Meaning revenue that covers costs AND debt repayment. In those cases, they enter Chapter11 to resolve a temporary crunch in liquidity.
Hertz isn’t that. Chapter11 doesn’t increase our revenue. Even pre-Covid our earnings to debt ratio was huge. Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn are artificial cause the one thing we are great at is projecting an image of success. Under the surface, we stink.
Regarding your question, you have now seen reality and if you have options, run and get a new job. I am surprised that you even ask cause you clearly realize you have made a bad choice.
