Do not get discouraged if you get laid off from the AT&T sewer. There are lots of contracting gigs out there, as long as you have your skills in order. The money is damned good, no id–t mandatory training, and you can focus on doing your job, versus dealing with all the office politics, and incompetent “leadership” at T.

The new normal will be less jobs available, more personnel working from home, commercial real estate will take a huge hit due to too much available and unoccupied office space, unemployed building technicians, maintenance people, property managers and job scarcity affecting all ancillary people! It’s going to get ugly out there and this is just the beginning! America’s ruling class imbeciles have destroyed this country, left, right it doesn’t matter! They’re all responsible for the demise of America as we once knew it! God help us all...
Jobs are hard to come by. The contracting jobs don't offer benefits. But hopefully after Covid situation is over things will get back to normal
I’m a union employee and still working well into my mid 60s! The work is easy, the pay is very good and there’s really not much work. I sit around most days with nothing to do because the work just trickles in and there are a lot of technicians available to do the work...more technicians than work. Not sure if the senior management is even aware of it, but I sure hope it lasts a long time before somebody gets wise to it!
I’m glad to be gone, surplussed in July. But at 60+, so far all I get are contracting offers for coding work, which I don’t do, in places far from home, for 3 or 6 mos at a time. I didn’t qualify for retirement, not old enough for Medicare, AT&T medical as part of severance won’t last forever. Wasn’t Obamacare supposed to make healthcare affordable? Anyway, it’s tough this side of 60, and a white male, to boot. Stay if you can. It’s only a job.

I left a few years ago when the market was smoking hot because I got tired of just waiting around to get the six month severance. Not sure now because I have been busy working and not really looking any more.
OP is right left on my own a few years ago and man is it nice to have team meetings about the actual company and the direction of the company and how we are going to get there instead of meetings about when the next layoffs are going to be and at the same time slap each other on the back and tell each other how great and smart we are. can you say messed up lol

yep I can verify this is the case. why I left on my own wasn't going to wait for the almighty 6 months salary to put up with the cesspool. made much more money leaving because is a dead end no matter where you move to or get promoted too you will eventually just be a paper pusher.
not just contracting jobs but a lot perm jobs out there too with great companies that blow the doors off of cesspool nwo att.
