Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Solidarity when buying a car

I wonder did upper mgmt include in their “who will be terminated” formula - how much money the company would lose when family / friends of SRD employees show solidarity and stop buying Ford vehicles as well ...? I bet that might have changed a few of their algorithms.

Found this on +17VSzpr2 thread about buying cars outside the Ford brand. I wonder if that means people used to buy Ford vehicles just out of solidarity with their friends and family who worked there? I have no doubt that some have, but I do not believe that numbers were significant. Am I wrong?

I quit buying new Ford vehicles because it is a terribly bad consumer choice. Felt that way for at least 10 years.

IDK There was a time when I was an unofficial brand ambassador. I would advise people of the benefits of each Ford model and most of my friends, neighbors and family drove Fords.

I ceased being a brand ambassador when I was treated horribly by my supervisor (a complete nut job and gas bag). The manager, director and HR all backed the supervisor (even though the whole team met with the manager and backed me and another person up).

I sold all of our Ford vehicles and bought Toyota’s. I never said a bad word about Ford, I just started telling friends, neighbors and family how great the Toyota vehicles were. Now nearly all are driving Toyota’s .

They aren’t doing it out of solidarity. They are doing it because they think I know a bit about automobiles and they trust my opinion.

A lesson for the Ford management team who back LL6 no matter what — you are cutting your own nose off. People will even the score by work slow downs (free loading), ceasing to promote Ford products, ceasing to purchase Ford products. Etc.

Current employee and we turned in our Ford vehicle lease and purchased a competitor's vehicle. Not only was it better quality but also less expensive. So sickened by what was done leading up to, during, and after the SRD. They don't even warrant me throwing my money away with a loyalty purchase. They don't deserve it. Ford has once again treated their employees like trash. And as in the past, then work to PR their people to forget and work themselves into the ground while management fritters our future away.

SRD in May of last year. My extended family all drove Fords. That has all changed over the past year and a half. My wife flipped to a Honda, daughter just turned in her Escape and purchased a 2021 Volvo XC40 outright. Brother bought a New Jeep, other brother a new Lexus. Getting ready to place a order for a 2021 C8 Corvette for myself. Thanks for the kick in the head Ford....

Ford should probably provide $30k towards buying a car. I was SRDed and brought a silver Honda. In the past year two of my neighbors purchased Honda's. They may feel I am knowledgeable about autos.

I do love this site and visit from time to time. To me it is entertaining

The A-, X-, or Z-Plan discounts that Ford employees can request for family and friends probably have much more to do with their purchase decisions than any feelings of solidarity.
