If you think IoT is about devices that "transmit all the time" you don't know the first thing about IoT.

Not sure where you’re getting that. IoT is one of the few growth areas of the company and I’m seeing SIMs including 30 days of data for $3 on AT&T’s site. Lots of bad info about what the company does in IoT like connected car because isn’t listed in earnings reports the same way phones and tablets are so the execs don’t think of it as valuable.
IoT never paid for itself and its weakness was still the cellular network that T never build out right to begin with. It was never built for every device to transmit ALL THE TIME, s—ing down bandwidth. At $5 a SIM, how many widgets to you need to sell to get back the billions that were shelled out to build it to the saturation and reliability level IoT needed to be?
Again, nice concept, but not profitable and poor execution.
And yes, JS can handle it all by himself soon, there won't be much left to sell and nobody around to maintain it. So yes, one man will be able to run it all, and have robots to bring him food and water.
Stankey can handle it..... he knows it all.
IoT was actually something the company had been doing right, but lately they've started wrecking it just like everything else. He was smart to get out.
