Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Circling the drain

For those left standing, consider that you may end up better off in the long run by moving on now. Many oil companies are circling the drain, including CVX. Stock price is around $67 and dropping.

Maybe CVX can last a bit longer if XOM stops up the toilet for a bit. Long-term outlook isn’t great.

a merger between cvx and xom seems inevitable at this point. At any rate, you should always be expanding your skills and never get too comfortable in your position. I am one of the ones left standing but I know loyalty doesnt mean sh– in this company. I am taking electrician classes at night.

Left Chevron in May 2020. After a 40 year career of doing everything that management asked me to do. It was difficult to leave especially after assisting with the elimination of jobs in my group. There is life after Chevron hopefully you will be able to leave with a clear conscience.

I worked for Chevron for 10yrs when laid off back in 2016. Got hired on with Phillips 66 in 2018...literally just got laid off again yesterday...

All majors will continue to do this...it's just the world we live in right now. Very volatile!!

Got left standing as well. Selection Rep and HR ambushed me. Thing that s—s them most is they had me working operations around the clock until the very in. I put my heart and soul into the company and they just threw me away. I know things will be better, but it's a tough pill to swollow.

$CVX could see 55 again very soon if the results are worse than expected. Good short term buying opportunity but wait a week until it confirms bounce up.

Got left standing, but enjoyed all my time at Chevron. Seems like next year will be extremely challenging for the people that made it so I am somewhat relieved, but I will miss a lot of great people I worked with. Please don’t work yourselves to death for Chevron next year. There is more to life than the chaos of work.

I got left standing too. I was really worried about it up until it happened. surprisingly, when it happened I didn’t care, and almost felt a sense of relief.

In fact, I am anxious to move onto the next phase of my life.

What’s the lowest pay group at Chevron?

A 10-15% staff reduction will not be enough if oil price stays around $40 for another year. Would not be surprised at more layoffs in 2022. This business is brutal.

Got left standing this morning. I have such peace of mind that I will not have to deal with the upcoming disaster. Too many people in jobs that they do not any idea how to do. Happy moving forward with my career!

Take care and stay safe!

Agreed, but only if we could get health insurance that did not bankrupt us. If that would be the case a lot more people would leave without even asking. Changing companies, doing gigs or starting up our own businesses would not be a problem. Without health care it is going to be a huge risk. One year of support will be up in a blink.
