Forty dollars a share is an "Alice in Wonderland" dream. Internal bureaucracy chews up much of the potential profit. And then compliance with administrative needs steals much of the rest. In small companies, employees do the work to get the job done and satisfy the customer. T has so many layers of management, the target - the customers and the money they spend - is superfluous.

Forget about T hitting $40 a share with the leaders that are in place! The reason T stock has not went down to $8 a share is because of the dividends. The company owes more than what it is worth. I worked for T and I know that all numbers are exaggerated to not show their true revenue loss & customer loss. But I believe most investors are realizing that the dividends can't stop shares from dropping. I sold all my shares over a year ago and luckily I did or else it would have taken me over 10 years of dividends to make up for the losses at today's share price.

stock will hit 40 only stankey's dreams and google will buy att only in the employees dreams.

google will never buy att mostly because of the culture and all the baggage it has with it. do the employees think they would survive at google. they build their own in house OS based on Linux and do you think the "STANDARDS" along with legal allow that to happen at att. that is only one reason off the top of my head but if I keep digging there would be hundreds of reasons.

att is no where even on the same level of google it would be a shock to the att employees having to survive at google.

It will hit $40 after a reverse stock split once it falls below $20. It’s just a matter of time. Look at what happened to Frontier after they took on too much debt. AT&T is following the same path. The commitment to the dividend leaves limited free cash flow for strategic capital investment.

Interesting question. My guesses are:

  1. When pigs fly
  2. When it snows in Hades
  3. When the sun begins to rise in the west
  4. When inflation raises $20 to $40

But more likely once there is a complete fumigation of senior executives and competent, visionary, sensible people take over and the company focuses on offering quality and reliability instead of mismanagement, adventurous acquisitions of assets T will destroy, and customer losses.

tl,dr; Stinkhole has to go.
