Survey 60+ Management Employees

I've been retired from management for a few years now but am wondering how many 60+ management employees are seriously thinking of leaving before year-end to avoid losing retiree health care? This survey might help everybody impacted to get a better sense of overall thinking and maybe result in better decision-making.

Just an FYI - It looks like the new UnitedHealth Medicare Advantage plan is a very very poor substitute for the current $4.200 annual subsidy, I think the further out you are from your desired retirement date the less sense it makes to go before yearend. You lose a lot of income including the possibility of a six-month severance for maybe little reward. BE CAREFUL!!!!!

@3wxu+179uGFDD how can you be so dammed dumb!!! - Just so you know, under the new UHC plan sponsored by AT&T the annual $2,700 subsidy you are now getting goes to ZERO!!! That is the real issue - YOU will be paying the full cost of Part B and any Advantage plan premiums.

Going forward, instead of providing $2,700/$4,200 in annual subsidy AT&T will maybe at most provide a couple of hundred $ in annual subsidy just so they can still claim in the media that they did not cancel retiree health care but as Stankey said "It's not about canceling retiree health care but making it's delivery more efficient".

I have the UHC AARP Medicare Advantage, gotten through the AON exchange. $0 premium, network provider OOP $6400, all provider OOP $10,000, Part D, vision, preventative Dental. Free annual physical. They paid for the blood tests that I would get nickel and dime on with the pre-medicare employee plan. The plan is a PPO so there is a nationwide network I can access out-of-state. In the states I go to, there are plenty of providers.

So, I'm getting the $2700 to AON and only pay the Medicare part B, so the HRA is accumulating.
I'm noticing I'm not seeing the details, the numbers with AT&T own Med Advantage plan. And it doesn't include dental, vision, or anything added to the HRA.

They tell you that you have to listen to a sales pitch to get the numbers, then there is likely nothing there.

It is very poor insurance, anything that has advantage is cheaper up front but you will be charged thousands if you go into hospital. Don't wait on that.

Advantage plans cover only your local area so if you travel you’re not covered outside your network!!

Looks to me that the HRA will be replaced with the new advantage plan AT&T built with UHC.

If you retire now at 60 in order to get the subsidy, but the time you are 65 it will be gone anyway. You threw away 5 years of full pay for the potential to get a few thousand in a subsidy you will never see anyway. If you are already 65 and want to retire anyway, go for it.

Let’s be real here and think like an ATT senior officer trying to save his company. That benefit is only good through 2023 and almost certainly will not be renewed, so why retire by the end of the year! For what, 3 years of that benefit! If you’re turning or already became 65, you might as well stay until they force you out. It’s $350/month, so think about how much money you can earn if you stay another year! If it was guaranteed for life, then it would have been a no brained, but T can’t carry its debt load forever, therefore, sacrifices will have to be made!

The subsidy is assured only thru 2023 if you become medicare eligible by then.

Just so we understand what you are saying, the future benefits are not worth $4,200/year? I also understand they could cancel it in 2023 anyway.

My wife researched this for me. You are indeed correct, the UnitedHealth Medicare Advantage plan is a very very poor substitute for the current $4.200 annual subsidy. Why else would Ratty and Stinky do this except to increase their compensation?

There is no reason to retire this year to get it as EVERYONE will be loosing this.
