Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

I envy those working at GEICO

I just looked at the GEICO page here and you can practically see the tumbleweeds rolling through. I guess unlike us, they know what it's like to have an employee that treats you decently so they don't feel the need to come to a place like this to went. They also don't seem to have many layoffs so they still know what job security is. No wonder they are beating us at everything - there is truth in the old saying "happy employee is a good employee."

I miss Esurance!!! I loved my job, loved my coworkers and loved my leaders....Allstate merger was the worse thing to happen to the culture Esurance built.

I worked for GEICO and while I was good at my job I quit after a year and a half. They micromanage every single move you make. All of your calls, your internet activity and even your bathroom breaks. You can’t go to lunch unless your phone buddy is available to cover you when you’re gone. If you’re late to work, even by a minute, it counts against your accountability and if that goes low enough, you aren’t eligible for profit sharing. I do however fear that Allstate is heading in the direction of severe micromanagement as they’re already doing some of the above. I do however credit GEICO for their training and the way the acknowledge employees, it isn’t a favorites game there and you’re promoted strictly on performance. However, I’d never go back to work there.

I couldn’t agree more. I worked for progressive, and it was a lot of work but you felt valued as an employee. Allstate is going to struggle to keep policies in force with the current moral across areas of the business.
