Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

For those who remain, what can we expect?

I hope this isn't insensitive to those laid off today, but for those of us who are safe, what can we expect going forward?

The workload is going to be enormous, and in claims we're already drowning. How many people will simply burnout and quit, causing even more work for those who remain? Do we go through another round of layoffs in the near future? Is Allstate going to compensate us for the increased expectations?

Morale is going to be in the toilet, and I imagine more than a few people will reconsider their employment with Allstate going going forward.

After watching people I respect and learned so much from get let go today, there is no future do any of us! They will do the same to you once they can find someone to do it cheaper! We remain only because we didn’t get paid as much but our heads will be next!

Anyone know if there is a correlation between getting cut/femmes safe and the mass call on Friday? Can we assume one way or the other if we got that invite?

Let's look at history–significant layoffs have happened multiple times—most recently in Law and Regulations about 2 years ago (note–L&R did a voluntary termination offer with the reference to "coming reorganization" which prompted many people to take the offer). Short term–very painful for those remaining–significant knowledge loss; work flows to those remaining–they are high achievers and feel an obligation to try to do it all. Impact? Burnout/decreased morale/reduced service to clients.

BUT—over time, new personnel is added–often at much lower salary—to at least help with the workload. Things begin to return to "normal'–slowly. New people become comfortable with information and begin contributing. The survivors of the wave become the target for the next layoff wave–that process takes about 6-10 years.

It’s going to be a bloodbath, take an already stressed out, overworked workforce that has been quarantined for months and then double or even triple their workload, with no management to assist or provide direction. Mistakes are going to be made and DOI complaints are going to skyrocket, but no one will be there to respond as they laid off managers. Complaint calls are going to quadruple, again, with no one to respond. The calls and emails are going to be overwhelming. People will rage quit in the middle of the day with no notice. Claim queues are going to have thousands and thousands of claims piling up. Customers are going to become irate when all they get is India and it takes 2 months to get their total loss paid. It’s already been getting weird these last 3 months, this is only the beginning for those that remain

Not only will workload increase but the metrics will be more aggressive as well...the writing is already on the wall that the bar is being raised for 2021.
Good luck...
