I believed and trusted in this organization when they said that they were being as "transparent" as possible. Based on those that have been let go so far, there is NO WAY that it was based on performance...LIESSS. some of the best, hardest workers I know were let go-I know for a fact they had stellar reviews.

Not all the older employees are being let go but a lot of employees that aren't working well they're keeping why. I just don't understand this company anymore and one time I cared about its employees but no longer home office just cares about lining their pockets with the money that we make them. You're not in good hands with this company
The assessments were purely cover to justify firing high performers with salaries they want to rid themselves of. They flat out lied about the selection process. There is no credibility to anything they say.
I agree with u because I was a top performer in my office 5+ years was let go like nothing
It absolutely makes no sense. I’m a tenured employee up there in salary, good reviews, and I took the assessment without trying to “pass” so to speak. I answered the opposite of what I considered to be the “right” answers. I was hoping to be one of the affected. But sadly it appears I am safe. I wish I could give someone who wants to stay my place.
It's obvious to me, by the hard working employees that were let go today, that the assessment was nothing more than a Smoke Screen...
This is pure conjecture on my part, but.
- I think that anyone who had a performance review less than meets was an auto-layoff.
- I'm certain that the "assessment" they made us take was, more or less, an IQ test. Believe them or not, there is some evidence out there which show that higher IQ employees do "better" work than lower IQ employees. Allstate probably had us all ranked based on our results, which is why they won't tell us our individual results, and department. They then decided to keep the top scores in each department that wasn't laid off in its entirety. "Seniority" was probably the tiebreaker, though I don't know if it help or hurt.
Like I said, I have no way to prove this. I'd bet I'm close to the truth, though.
To the person that said they are laying off the overpaid... BS!! Two peoole from my office are underpaid compared to all of us and had more tenure.. so answer that for me. The assessment results? Or draw from a hat... but it certainly was NOT because of overpaid salaries in my office! I think I am safe and want OUT! Anyone want to trade places with me?
I agree. I was laid off today and I’ve had great performance reviews the past two years and have even received the Golden Compass Award recently. I’m also one of the lower-paid people in my position. Nothing makes sense, which makes this even harder to accept.
They are laying off those who they consider are overpaid. Nothing to do with performance.
I am shocked at some of the layoffs today. Some of our best employees let go. Where is all their work going?? We are talking about at least 1000 pending claims! I am going to start my job search soon. The consequences of Allstate’s foolish decisions will be devastating.
Fit into what new culture?? Is the way we handle claims changing?? Certainly that assessment didn't tell you anything. If it did, post the results! Otherwise, I call b—s—!!

It’s performance and suitability in the new order of things. There are many people who just won’t fit into the new culture. It’s horrible way to treat people but that’s how they did it.
