Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

so, why didn't the layoffs happen as expected? the pandemic.

There are no active budgets in the company except for a few major programs. i know literally entire groups of people doing nothing except re-working unfunded projects for reviews. these layoffs will occur its just a matter of time. the company will widdle down to 100k in a matter of time.

what a joke of a company. nothing but greedy imbeciles pretending to be innovative and smart. nobody wants to be a customer of att unless they forced by them being the only provider.

Ts waiting for juicy government contract, money, tax break, after the election whoever wins, high speed broad band is on top of the list of things congress on both sides want to get done, why layoff resources you need when uncle sam comes with the fat broad band check. Biding their time.

The bean counters, know the real numbers and how much fat they need to trim, not sure about 100k jobs number, but it will be significant, when it happens.

Issue right now T is a big corporate entity so , its not going to slash and burn the workforce right before an election cycle. Last thing these guys want is Biden or Trump pointing their finger at a poor corporation treating its employees poorly.. But wait past election date, if the virus is on the rise and shutdowns begin again, GUARANTEEED T will , slash major number of jobs.

Yes, I know my group is slow with very few orders coming in and too much down time! I’m quite confident that the pandemic has changed the way prospective customers are thinking. I believe they’re waiting until this pandemic subsides and a vaccine is developed before making any significant changes to their existing service. Therefore, technicians are not as busy as they should be in various areas of the country. It’s conceivable that more layoffs are on the horizon possibly before the year ends!

Yep, Ratty and Stinky's debt load made it so T is starved for capital and cannot keep the network updated let along modernized for services like 5G to compete with V and TMOB (which Ratty donated $5B too). T is in a death spiral.

But there is plenty of $ to pay Ratty and Stinky's perks, compensation and retirement. Ratty does not want to cut the dividend because that would eat into his $1M quarter dividend check!
