ISC job

Manager asked me if I would consider a job in ISC. Hinted that this might prevent losing job in next round. Felt like a threat. Anyone else getting pressure to go back to the sweat shop? Aero Phoenix.

@5nph+170vcIZ2 I think the Tortoise is trying to inspire us to greatness - you know work 24/7 around the clock to make it happen. Kind of like Elon does at Tesla - work people to death. But Tman doesn't seem to be very inspiring.

Absolute and complete Hellhole. I’M tapping out. I’ll be damned if I’ll get another “Mandatory” Meeting notice and then sit on pins and needles for 2 weeks. I made it through 2 rounds. Enough is enough. I can’t fathom why anyone would stay. I really cannot. NO job security whatsoever. Pay s—s, completely understaffed, and morale is in the toilet.

Honestly, it feels good to be able leave on my own accord after the terror that has been the past year.

ISC is a really weird place. There are countless of reporting with countles of leaders asking for same reports with meetings to compliment.
By the way, does anyone know what Torsten SVP for ISC has been doing these last few months other than hosting townhalls and zoom meetings to explain covid-19 safe messages? I really have no clue why his position is there in the first place.

ISC is the kiss of death. I know quite a few people who were "encouraged" to take a job there. People have been strong armed for years to take a job in that death trap. Quite a few are no longer with HON.

My Honeywell thermostat broke after 1 year, and they refused the warranty because I bought it at Home Depot rather than from a licensed professional installer.

Nothing will have that logo again in my house except the shirts they gave me. I use them when I paint.

I work at honeywell , by definition I can’t afford to buy anything made by honeywell. Once someone gave me a honeywell security camera. It didn’t work and I threw it away. My honeywell thermostat worked okay. I replaced it for an ecobee and put the honeywell one in the rental with the cheap furniture.

Dont buy honeywell products and services. Boycott them because they use cheap materials in the supply chain

Trust and respect? Guess you hit the nail on the head.
Did you ever read the book "The Last Mouthpiece: The Man Who Dared to Defend the Mob" , by Robert F. Simone? That is who i work for.... crazy smart for sure, but still just a tool being used to launder the corporate spin and turn greed into some kind of moral burning platform.

Time to move along. After this week I DONT trust or respect and so the decision is made.
Maybe i will have opportunity to volunteer and get a few weeks of pocket money. Maybe not.
Sigh... I like my friends. Hope they will follow. New photo on linkedin is today's task.

@OP

Your current manager may be giving you a a potential life line. Yes it's true the rules around reqs have been very fluid as of late. But, part of how the cuts were made was by looking at time in role. If you formally post, the clock resets. You could be a Block 2 in position for a month and get laid off before a block 5 in position for 10 years. If the clock doesn't reset, it may be a good thing. If you trust and respect your manager, go for it. Otherwise stay put.

Many folks in ISC moved to special projects, teams. Had to take that or goodbye. Hon goal is contract manufacturing, all ISC jobs. After all, anyone can do anything. No one is special or necessary.

The incompetent leadership wants you to make up for their bad decisions again, “just do more”, “oh you are going to quit?!” “Never mind then”

Being a former ISC Engineer, I knew that with who and how many they cut, it would be impossible to sustain the needed support. Now they are screwed and looking for help...i was RIF'd and still don't have a job after 2 months, but grateful not to be part of toxic Honeywell Aerospace.

This is @OP , so i called his bluff and asked for the req... "no req, this is just an internal lateral thing".
No req? So what gives ? Are they trying to get around the no replacement for a year policy? Or maybe that is just a myth. He told me they can move me anytime to any job and that reqs aren't needed.

Lesson.. the job you are hired to do is at the will of honeywell.
Please grab a broom and get to work.

Please post if you hear of other cases of strong arming.
Probably posted too much identifiable info already.
Too angry to care. I welcome the rif at this point.

ISC especially AERO has had the highest attrition rate either thru’ workforce rationalisation excercises or voluntary basis among other business groups. This has been ever since TH took over and ran it not as an industrial powerhouse among all groups but as a cash cow skinning it thinner with each passing day. Low investment while demanding high margins has effected the business for years therefore it is inevitable that it is what it is that we see today.
MM is running the business like how TH previously had only with a deeper and broader reach to demand higher margin YoY while the newly elected ISC VP, KS, has been tripping ever since he joined. One might think that he is just manning the ship without a destination waiting to do what he did in his previous role which was to spin-off businesses. Its no wonder that nobody has seen any new ideas or direction after almost a year of taking on the role. Or, maybe he is just waiting for MM to bugle up and he can step right in to be the President and CEO of aero.
