"but AT&T can’t use advertising in any way to lower prices for poor people to get telecommunications to ensure access to emergency services and close the digital divide. "
Uh...there's already a program for this:

The mouthbreathers call it the "obamaphone" program.
The at&t plan doesn't have anything to do with helping anyone other than at&t.
att can keep their services and their advertising my family and myself will never buy anything from att again.
The hypocrisy is a situation where companies like Amazon use data to advertise their own products at the expense of competitors but AT&T can’t use advertising in any way to lower prices for poor people to get telecommunications to ensure access to emergency services and close the digital divide. This Senator is clearly bought and paid for by Silicon Valley, because the end result of his proposals are in stark contrast to the goals he supposedly supports.
Not that Stinky could ever come up with anything good.
So let me get this straight, now the Senate cares about Citizen privacy. But the Kongress was perfectly fine with a special carve out for Google. Facebook, Twitter and the rest which violates Citizen privacy even more?
All this is they pay more to the corrupt politicians that T does to protect their carve out.
