Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

New ads

Did anyone else watch the two new commercials and feel that they were absolutely awful?
Is this the campaign that is supposed to compete with Geicos ads.
I tried to watch them with an open mind but I thought it was the worst Allstate ads I have seen in my career.
Particularly the woman rolling in the carpet...

The carpet one was awful. And as someone else said, you can get identify theft and cell phone protection free from your bank, TurboTax, etc. Why would you pay for it?

I agree they were awful. We need commercials ppl will talk about and remember. These were lame and forgettable.

Personally, I like the ads, especially the jello mold on top of the truck. Made me think of going to visit older relatives when I was growing up. Good memories. Sounds like I might have a different perspective than others.

Months and months to come up with that? The woman rolling on the carpet looked like the very first idea coming form a junior creative's mind. Good execution of a really poorly thought concept. Who thinks of protection when they see the ad? My friends and family were confused. If you need someone to explain an ad to you, that ad is not effective, just like a joke is not funny if it needs an explanation. I don't foresee that new creative guy staying too long...

The woman rolling in the carpet is absolutely embarrassing for this company. The people with the things left on top of the vehicles does not come close to the quality and funniness of Geico commercials, and not funny. In all honesty these are horrible commercials that will do nothing for market share. Please, please get better writers and ad agency. “You ain’t Geico”!

I agree that the ads are awful. I love the song, but another insurance company used it only a few years ago. Don’t the ad creators do any research? Don’t they test their ads first to see if they are being well received? But I was happy to hear Dennis Haysbert’s voice in the tagline.

Also, cell phone insurance? I just got an email that my bank will provide that for free if I use their account to pay my cell phone bill.

Rolling recklessly into other people's property and completely out of control.
Pretty much explains our company at this time.
Bravo.

Anyone notice the Allstate adds out of focus in the background during NFL games in the stands and on the jumbo-tron? There are no fans in the stadiums this season! Such a waste of money. One more aspect of the reckless transformational growth.

Both ads are very forgetful in my opinion. Not funny, no agent involvement and no mention of best price. Not catchy at all.

It was a kick in the teeth to hear the CMO complain about taking a trip to Norway to film the commercials.

The woman rolling in the carpet was so dumb.... what was it supposed to convey? They life is out of our control?

The other one was dumb too.. it was saved a tiny bit by the drive wise app but if those are guiding transformative growth, good luck
