@88ha lol what kind of sad psycho ex-EM spend time on layoff board suaning people looking for jobs in an economic downturn. If you really doing so well as ex-EM you won’t be looking at resumes, you’ll be retired.

@88h5 take a chill pill man, didn’t management say by Mid December? October is not over yet. You should be working! Not posting on this forum! Ex EM here btw, good luck finding jobs out there in the wild, many EM resumes are floating around, it is a buffet for employers out there right now. I can slowly pick and choose. Oh and also, prepare to take a pay cut as many cannot match your big fat pay grade!

Anyone watched movie and know about Thanos’ Snap?

In a moment of chilling silence, Thanos raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

Half of all life—across planets, species, and civilizations—disintegrated into dust. Heroes, innocents, and tyrants alike vanished. The universe fell into mourning.

Thanos retreated to a quiet planet, watching the sunrise, believing he had saved existence.

Most likely, management will be bumped back to a technical role and you will be NSI'd as a technical employee. You have to remember that "management" was initially hired as a technical employee.

@889f agreed! They can come to work everyday and sing WAEM! Cheering, patting each other on the back and compliment each other with heart warming words.

just shift them to a new function, we can call it retirement home where they can all display their high level behavior. They can do whatever, just don't waste my time entertaining them. The ES principals are just for show who won't even appear physically to help to cover base engineers on a day to day basis, very unlike the principals from technical

Honestly, they really need to shave the number of so called "supervisory" lead, complex, principals, SLS. who are really contributing, making decisions?? How many of these so called high level folks earning big bucks are making real engineering decisions and contributing. Most of just asking to follow GPs. What's the point of having them then? There's no point moving them to technical position as well, they are not competent to give technical advices and solutions. It will just be shifting the problem and not solving the real issue.

@8888 u should see the ridiculous number of overpaid principals in ES. All don’t do anything yapping around. Farm for at least 10 years each of them.

Mobil Oil was top heavy with management in circa 1990. During the Mobil Oil global reorganizations in the 1990's, the number of management chairs was reduced by 50%. Many managers did not lose their job, they were just bumped back to the technical ranks.

In Mobil Oil you could retire at age 50 with full pension. Some managers opted for retirement after age 50 instead of being reassigned to a non-management role for the rest of their career in Mobil Oil.

There is a simple solution to our headcount problem. Just drop the retirement age to 50 with 0 years of service to receive 100% of your pension and monitor the uptick in retirement announcements.

There are too many leads and many supervisors. Just feed people the truth, you can't offer everyone a career growth upwards. now it's just too top heavy which is not efficient at all, and expensive.

ExxonMobil appears to have a problematic middle management structure, where managers are perceived as more focused on self-preservation than on contributing to the company’s core goals. Many managers seem to be doing administrative or low-value tasks, with high pay and little impact on the organization’s productivity. This leads to a sense of inefficiency, as middle managers prioritize their own job security and try to rank their subordinates lower to protect their positions. This dynamic can be demotivating for employees and may be a drain on resources.

Layoff is good to cut the fats. We used to have very good engineers before COVID. After the first round of layoff , so many people left and we hired all sorts of nonsense just to make up for the lost headcount and keep the plant running. Shall not be too specific but we used to have this technical engineer in the unit producing this carcinogenic compound. He was so incompetent but the company took years to fire him last year. His teammates are also quite bad.

Need to be skeptical of those who graduated from unknown universities but went to NUS for masters to whitewash their educational background
