Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Things are getting weird out here

Anyone else notice the rapid decline of morale/mental health? I know personally I feel defeated (and I still currently have a job) but it seems that overall this organization is at its breaking point. I barely speak to coworkers some seem to be falling way behind or going completely overboard. Interactions with shops/customers all seem very tense, so many complaint calls, everyone seems angry. It’s understandable, it’s been 2 months of limbo

Esurance people have had anxiety since December merge announcement. On top of this, we are adjusting to new procedures, accessing piled on training and orientations and meetings thru a backward login to allstate platforms. Now they are giving us new computers with pages and pages of instructions to get in, get our stuff shifted over & messing up how we can even make phone calls, get emails, IMs & notices for meetings. Having a problem? Go look it up. Don’t call anyone or put in a ticket. You’re on your own.

I went a year an a half with out mental health issues. I’ve been fighting MDD (major depression) and GAD (General anxiety) for years and had gotten a hold of it previously. Even got off my medications. I was so happy and proud of myself. Was able to feel better without medicine by walking/exercising, enjoyed hobbies, enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Sadly, I’m getting back on medicine and hope it helps some but I truly blame Allstate’s lack of compassion and unprofessional handling of the changes coming. I’m back to having no motivation. Not just towards work... I don’t want to see friends/family, no interest in hobbies, and am walking around my home waiting.. for something, anything.
I see our office production numbers plummeting and more and more unhappy customers.

Allstate, you want your customers to feel welcomed and cared for? Take care of your employees. Don’t make us wait MONTHS for some kind of answer. You should have told us that Allstate was making major changes, sent the assessment out, and had a final decision within one month. Or just rip the bandaid.

As soon as a log off for the day I start dreading what the next one will bring. It’s like the Sunday Scaries turned all the way up. With the current WFH it’s making it harder to separate work from life. My outlook isn’t great. I haven’t been with the company for that long (less than a year) and I never got my desk routine down before we transitioned. My stomach is even reacting to the anxiety and stress.

I’m barely keeping it together. I dread logging in everyday. I think everyone is feeling the same.

The quality of files being transferred into my department has become decidedly worse over the last month or so.

I can tell morale is down. My coworkers are no longer volunteering to cover Saturday shifts and when they get a call on a claim that's not there's they try to just pass it back to the claim handler instead of helping. I don't blame them. I personally am no longer starting before my scheduled time (I may have the laptop on and ready to go but I am sitting there drinking my coffee or reading etc. ) and I log off promptly at my scheduled sign off time. If i have to log out of my phone and not take the calls for when people press 0, I do it and get my own work done. If someone screws up I no longer cover for them, I throw them under the bus. Why should I give it 100% anymore?

Never work 12 hours a day for anyone other than your self. You won't see a payoff for the time from other's.

It's a very strange feeling to work 12 hrs. A day every day for 20 plus years and it comes down to just look at you as a number. Are we in good hands?

I have been an employee for 30 plus years in numerous jobs... Personally, I feel the company has known for QUITE SOME TIME whom they will be letting go... the first step was making everyone agree to arbitration... This so-called skills assessment is merely a dog and pony show ... I truly believe that tenured employees in the top salary bands -like me- will be let go, but so be it.....every claims adjuster has developed a 'do the minimum' approach to their work day. it is only a matter of time until the entire claims operation is housed in India.....

The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.

The great thing about working from home is the minimal, if any interaction with the self promoting shrews and smiling liars.

I agree, morale seems rock bottom with every person I work with. It’s not even just the looming layoffs (which is certainly part of it) but there is this constant expectation to do more than you ever have using less than you ever for zero appreciation or recognition. I’ve been with the company for 2+ decades and this is the first time I literally dread logging in for work every day.

I dont miss working in an office. I think working remote actually helped my morale. But im just one person. I agree though, seems lile morale is down across the board. Eveyone is always irritable or on the verge of shutting down. There is no joy in being a claims adjuster. Only a paycheck.

Compassionate words are spoken by my manager but actions and words are not in alignment. I pray that the duplicitous scum across the organization reap what they sow.

I can 100% relate to this. I as well still have a job for now. I am a liability adjuster, Everything is just piling on and is becoming overwhelming. For me its a combination of working from home for so long with out the interaction with my peers and the not knowing for so long and how Allstate has d–g this out. I get up every morning with an unwarranted amount of stress and anxiety that shouldn't be there. The only that is right now i still have a job and Allstate still pays my bills so i just keep on keeping on for now. I do also see the morale down my office especially. I was one of the ones that my numbers fell dramatically last month. I typically stay well above goal but July was tough. You can hear it in peoples voices in the huddles. Everyone almost seems sad. I pray for everyone that will be affected by these layoffs and that you and your families can make it through.
