Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Scx

At scx they have every craft doing other crafts work, supervisors think they can help by doing work. Think it’s time to start filing claims on all of this and go back to doing only your crafts work! They push push push and maybe its time to push back!

NS has uncovered the spineless "senior employees" that preached all bulls**t to junior employees how they wouldn't do this or that and union strong they are.. A little intimidation sent their way and they cave only looking out for #1 making everything work that NS implements with minimal interruption of service. Them individuals are the death of the crafts...

NS doesn’t care about work rules. I have over 20 years in the crafts and I have never been paid for a time claim. You can say what you want to but the company is going to win.
Face it the unions are weak. We continue to work without contracts for 3-5 years, and still have to give up something like added health costs.

When are the unions going to grow a set of balls and go on strike ?

The main problem is the hand full of guys that willingly will just do other craft's work. Tell a guy to wield and he should burn a whole though it. Do it when they tell you and screw it up so bad the right craft has to fix it. Like I said before, the problem is the few that still think they will keep a job if they work harder.

The company is using the incidental work rules. It’s happening at all of the shops. The pipefitters and boilermakers are almost gone at the shops and now it’s the machinist and electricians work. This is new normal, work shorthanded and still do everybody’s work for no extra pay.

The sad part is that every boss on the floor at scx came out of the crafts. They should know better but as usual they are selfish sob,s!! Only concerned about what’s good for themselves!!

It’s never too late to pushback. Start filing time claims and at least flood them with paperwork. If a boss is working that is a slam dunk, up to each craft though to fight for their work.

SCX is a complete joke. They have no idea what the hell is going on. Trying to make us do more than we can handle. Doing 3 jobs with 1 person. F— SCX Loco!!

Funny,

Here is an idea when they ask you to do another crafts work just say ok but I’m not familiar with that type of work could you please advise on how to preform that particular crafts work cause I feel that I can’t do it in an efficient manner that you expect.

Time to push back was about a year ago. Doing it now is still a good idea but way late on most of this stuff. We didn’t have anybody representing us with a spine. Just big pushovers.

Gotta have men that will actually stand up and say something. Nothing will change if all you do is lie down.

Gotta have real unions for that. It’s useless now. It’s over.
