I was thinking the same thing, it would be counter-productive cutting 401k since a large bulk of that goes as an investment in the stock. That 6% co. match is a big motivator for employees to do the min of 6%
They like the match because the automatic buying of T stock every 2 weeks for around 250k employees is the only thing keeping the price as high as it is.

They don’t have to stop funding. There will be no employees below level 4, in a year or 2. There will be too many chiefs and all Indians...lol
I think you will see a pension freeze or something done with the pension before they stop matching but one never knows and who knows what the slime balls will think up.

Ratty & Stinky keep HR so busy wacking people that HR does not have time to file all the necessary documents with the gooberment and rewrite all the policies.
Besides, with all the people wacked over the last 5 years, ~ 45k, T is probably matching and contributing a lot less than they used to be to the 401k and pension.
Plus, won't Ratty & Stinky have their match reduced? Maybe that is the biggest reason.

They’d stop pensions first. Offer a buyout and then sell off whatever is left.
