If anybody expresses even a hint of interest of wanting to join AT&T, I'm ready with a long list of reasons why they should stay as far away from this place as they can. I'm at the point where I wouldn't want working here on my worst enemy. And to think this was once a good place to work...

I have survived a 35 year rollercoaster ride with the nonstop threat of layoffs! I make a good living, done alright with savings/investments and won’t complain. From what I’ve learned and and the way I have been treated, my guess is it’s not just the ATT culture that has devolved into a hell-hole, it’s corporate America overall that has shamefully turned its back on its own most valuable resource, unfortunately! I feel sorry for the youth of American workers venturing into corporate America, however, I believe they’re smarter than we are/were! They will just hop and skip their way through life with no loyalty to any one company and for what! There’s no longer anything to strive for or to be loyal to! God bless America’s youth!
You join a club. You hire on to do a job.
yeah I tell every college grad I know and my daughter is friends with to run the other way from att and never work there.
It’s a job, that’s about it. That’s what I tell folks. If you’re looking for a job and need the money, then this is the place. If you want s career or to climb the ladder, go elsewhere unless you have connections.
I come in and do as I’m asked, then go home. I don’t expect any recognition, promotions, or anything anymore. Those days are long gone. Also gone is my willingness to go above and beyond, to outperform, or to question anything. I do as I’m asked. I make my life outside of work. Since I’ve adopted the dgaf attitude, I sleep better, I’m happier, and I worry less.
How can anyone in good conscience recommend ATT as a company to work for, with constant threat of layoffs? In addition to that, the culture is not one that I would recommend to any of my friends or peers in the industry. As a female in a technical role, I've been marginalized, told not to speak in meetings, and have been lied to by my manager regarding role assignments, and excluded from important meetings and projects. I am normally a pretty optimistic and resilient person. The possibility of surplus, once a frightening prospect, is now looking like an option I would almost welcome. I'm still trying to do the best job that I can, but have no hope for my future in the company.

Stanky's basically telling people not to work here now, isn't he? I tell people it's a decent place to start and the tuition reimbursement is not bad (if you can get approval), but if they actually want to make a career somewhere, this isn't the place.
Do you really think it’s better any place else? Wake up people. The Social Contract in this country was broken by companies and the government, while we were blindly sitting around while being distracted by lousy entertainment, sports, booze, and cheap food. This was done to us by design. Any new jobs will have inferior pay and benefits, and pretty much zero job security. The plan is to replace us with H1Bs and off-shoring. This issue goes way beyond AT&T. Dispute this if you wish, but if you open your eyes, it’s hard to deny that this is exactly what’s going on.
couple things, For obvious reasons most craft people woeking here dont have other options, lots of people without formal education should considered themselves lucky to have a job in today's market. Avoid wasting your time here, if you are an accomplished professional.
This is from a recently excused employee..... I was provided 29 years of opportunities, most I did not recognize. I could never disparage SWBT, SBC, ATT. Be mean if you choose. I miss my team.

Was hired recently. They pull the same dumb management tactics the other telcos pull that I’m used to, but for the best payrate I’ve ever seen in 20 years. And they’ve got that same third of workers who still complain about everything. So give us the list. How did I screw up by joining?
