Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

I don't think Barnes & Noble will survive until the holidays.

Customers actually laugh at me when I talk about the membership card, they all know we're going under. They've been cutting all of our hours and now I am reading about more of our jobs are in jeopardy, everyone here is so depressed and/or disgusted. I really hate the manager here but no one is hiring elsewhere so we all just do what we need to do to get through another c-appy day.

Books are a luxury. $30 for a new hardcover book can’t be justified in the now. People struggling to pay rent, utilities, buy food.
They can buy them cheaper online when they have disposable cash.

Christmas is 4 months away.
Shoppers will not be crowding stores in 4 months.more companies , not just BN, won’t survive.

It is not about thinking they will not make it, they 100% will not make it. Get in the mindset they they will be closed by 12/31. Down with BN. :)

I haven't been called back to work yet. I don't think they're going to make it.

I don't know how they will continue. How many people are even going shopping anymore, except for food? I am amazed they didn't close down back in March.

If the customers laugh ,you know they have no intentions of supporting the store. Certain death for a retail store.
