I’m a Bargained for CO tech, and I have been installing 5g related equipment and circuits for years now. I’m in a big market, so I’m probably an exception to the rule. Vendors do install the equipment bays and run the AC power, but we install everything after that.
a lot of that build plan was defunded this year.
Contractors build the cell sites! The question wasn’t about running fiber. 5G is the technology running over the fiber and contractors build that. Was never a union job ever.
Placing has been done by contractors in most of the regions for years. No difference if the fiber is being put in to feed a 5G small cell or to feed a switched ethernet. Now if they are contracting out the splicing in your area that is new to me.
If there are union represented technicians, then most of the work is being kept in-house and not out sourced. At least in IT services installations, T is working with the union and the ATT technicians are doing the work. The contractors are on their way out and no longer being utilized by T for ABFS work!
No. The whole 5G thing was a lie. Which is why T is no longer one of the top two wireless companies.
I build 5G in Mobility and we use many contractors for the build.
Nope they slashed that budget. Completely serious.
