Have any of you guys been in this position where they are essentially threatening you "take it or you are out?" What is it like? Where you mentally prepared for when they were gonna offer it or did it sneak up on you?

Leg-T is 24 hours. Took them 3 tries to get an offer on a job opening that actually existed.
1st offer - not a CWA title (IBEW)
2nd offer - the 24 hours my co-worked had to respond was not up yet. (she was out of the country on vacation, and did take the job).
3rd offer - an acceptable location, so I took it. Did my 30 months due to job title change, took an open that got me back home after 15 years.
I would love a 24 hour notice to leave this company with a severance package since I’ve been working for T since the 80s! They just haven’t offered anything and from the looks of it, aren’t going to! There are many retirement eligible people I know of that are ready to leave, but only if they’re offered a severance package to do so! Otherwise, easy peasy paycheck...aren’t going anywhere!
Always keep the ball in your court. Take whatever they offer and start looking elsewhere if it’s not something your interested in. You will always be more marketable having a job than not. Unless you have options to walk directly into another new position.
For MVO’s, they are legally required to give you two weeks to consider.
And for union workers, the labor contracts govern.
You have 24 hours no matter what. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a coma or having major, major surgery, 24 business hours are all you’ll get so you have to think of the big picture. Sometime that means biting the bullet and taking a position you don’t want or leaving a company you’ve worked for for two decades. It all depends on the person and their future outlook.
