New WarnerMedia CEO says "I'm sorry" about Layoffs

WarnerMedia’s new CEO Jason Kilar announced a reorg & layoffs today and said:

"...we will be reducing the size of our teams, our layers, and our overall workforce. These reductions are not in any way a reflection of the quality of the people impacted nor their work. ...This is the part that is painful and very hard. It is difficult to find the appropriate words here to say other than that I am very sorry."

The "I'm sorry" part caught my eye. Just saying the words (even if you doubt them) seems like good leadership. Have we heard any of the other executives say "I'm sorry" recently?

"I'm Sorry" isn't in the required training Supervisors are mandated to take when they need to perform a layoff in their group. Yeah, he's going to get marked down to 'Meets Expectations' for that little gaffe.

It's easy to say sorry for the first one. Let's see how sincere he is after the 15th surplus of hard working individuals.

His words were very comforting to me. Our organization, was told on Nov 1st, 2019 we would be surplussed in 2020/2021; to date leadership has shown little compassion. His message restores my faith.

He will be chastised for that.

The correct verbiage is along the lines of "this is the hardest thing that we have to do..." yadda, yadda, yadda.

Kilar is new to AT&T and has not been indoctrinated to its and his boss Stank’s ways yet.

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the newest additions to the T family. You're fired.

Oh, by the way, just a warning that those of you who weren't laid off this time around will be axed later.

Welcome to T!
