Here are some suggestions to fix a few things here at T, now remember this is coming from a "lowbie", so, you know how little we actually KNOW about business.
1) A 2-year moratorium on layoffs and hiring (including overseas). Need to lower the headcount? The natural leaving and retiring will just about do it for you. Plus, the added bonus of happier employees. Imagine that, employees that are not worried ever 3 months that their jobs are going away!
2) Bring back customer-facing jobs to the US. Have you upper ups every tried to actually USE our helplines? Having customer service people who you can understand and can understand you makes a BIG difference. Look at Apple, they can charge more, and get away with it as they provide an excellent product with WORLD CLASS customer service. Stop saying the words "customer service" and start actually providing it. FIX IT, this will be the death of T if you don't.
3) We lowbies have been carrying you, higher-ups, long enough. Instead of cutting our benefits, how about you start cutting yours? Your medical benefits, stock options, pay, are all out of line, fix it, and let us know you fixed it. Do NOT use those BS lines that "we have to pay and offer this to attract world-class talent." If we had world-class talent, we would not be in the situation we are in currently.
4) How about starting to promote from within again? Imagine how happy your employees would be if they knew they had a chance to move up in the company?
5) Stop jerking us around. Tell us the truth. (remember the wonderful "its not a layoff by location, it might be a layoff by location, it IS a layoff by location times, oh, good times..good times." And oh, by the way, live by the COBC yourselves, it is embarrassing when all your dirty laundry gets out in the public. We lowbies would be fired...you should too. Remember, the buck stops here?
6) Stop trying to force your political agenda on us. Do what you are paid to do, run the business to the best of your ability. Higher the best person for the job. No one cares what race, color, creed, religion, s-xual preference, etc, they are as long as they can do their jobs and are good honest people.
7) Remember, you are an employee too. Any future cuts in pay, bonuses, benefits, should apply to you as well.
8) As bonuses are not guaranteed, dividends are not as well. Pay down the dang debt, then increase the dividends later. We see this, why can not you? Oh, forgot, you C-suiters make a fortune off these dividends. This needs to end. Stop focusing on this quarter, and start focusing on the next 5-10 years.
This is just a start, not trying to be to sarcastic here. T was one a GREAT company, now, we not even ...2nd? Behind T-Mobile? You are kidding, why are we not number 1? Maybe YOUR goals should have that, to make T number 1 in 3 years.
