Evidently the folks in charge realized something that our president hasn't: that Covid will not magically disappear. And so there was an email to corporate/office workers saying that wfh will be extended until sometime in mid 2021.
On top of that, some groups (including mine in BBV) have been told that wfh may be permanent as the company re-adjusts and evaluates things.
This is a big change from two years ago when Jamie Van Buskirk rescinded all wfh because she claimed that being in office was more effective and provided greater collaboration – even though most teams are spread across several time zones.
Obviously this announcement doesn't affect retail or guys in the field. But for those of us cube-dwellers it means a lot.
If nothing else, at least this shows that T is capable of making intelligent, informed, and positive choices for employees. Too bad it's the exception and not the rule.
