I've been here 20+ years and by choice

You’ve been here 20 yrs, because you have no marketable skills. Good luck!

if your friends are no longer friends after you have been laid off or after they have been laid off... it's not the lay off that was the issue, it was the relationships....

Did they die immediately after being surplussed? If not, and they are truly "friends", you haven't "lost" anything. Cheer them on as they move forward with their next chapter.

I've been here 20+ years and by choice, have only made a few true lifelong friends at work over that period of time. Where we are employed his little or nothing to do with it.

You had friends at work?
If you feel so bad, why didn't you take their place?
You're part of the "team" after all.
Send them some $$$. Offer to cut your hours.
These posts about friends, socialization, collaboration and teams are cute.
They should have had more nano degrees, badges, been more active on T space.
Or, just went to work to make as much $$$ as possible in the shortest amount of time.
It's little wonder why folks can't survive in a dog eat dog corporate world.
