I wish president Trump actually took actions to protect American jobs. Like most politicians, talks a good talk, but overall action ( past a few big touted cases ) has been weak and clearly geared towards his re-election.
Those are low salaries for senior level software engineers or architects. Average base is around $200K in Silicon Valley, not including cash bonus/stock options, which easily boosts your compensation to $250K or more. Google in Mountain view and Facebook in Menlo Park fall in this category, as well as Amazon in the Palo Alto office.
As usual he talks out of both sides of his mouth. I'm against H1B visas, outsourcing, and high executive salaries, but he never says anything against capitalism when it goes into his coffers.
This looks like it's aimed specifically at H1-B workers. No mention of offshore contractors and there are lots of those spread around the company. Lots.
@mxd+16gsiM9Y the deal with those high H1-B salaries is that tech work is informal so that you can work from home. You can also talk about a work problem you're having trouble solving with your brother, in India, along with his 10 friends in cramped 30x30 room.
It’s a real shame that AT&T felt the need to give our jobs away to H1Bs that they imported. They pay these people top dollar, too. Now, the off-shore ones make pennies on a dollar, but the ones they bring into the country to take our jobs, make as much, if not more, than we do. And if you have any doubts about the scope of what they’ve done to us, just go to WebPhone and look at the make-up of almost any org. We’ve been sold out big time.

This will not be a problem for T. Stankey has learned from Randall how to woo Thomas Friedman into talking to employees headed for the door, so that they will be encouraged at how Flat The World Is and how their termination just short of 50 years old is good for the country and for Thomas Friedman's bank account

Google: $143,373
Microsoft: $142,132
Amazon: $134,117
So much for the idea that H1-Bs are drastically cheaper than US citizens. There are obviously other, more corrupt, reasons that Big Tech likes them.

I would say that out of all the American companies that outsourced and really shafted the American worker, AT&T is the biggest offender, by far. Other companies followed our lead, now the other way around.
