Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

DirecTV will be gone by 2022

If we continue to lose subscribers at this pace - and I see no indication of it slowing down - by the end of 2022 DirecTV will become completely unsustainable. And that is a generous assessment, chances are it could happen even sooner, especially with so many people cutting all non-essential costs right now.

Can we by now all agree on this being one of the worst - if not the worst - decisions AT&T made in the past decade? Talk about wasted $49 billion.

Hey "Dtv tech", because there are more customers leaving DTV than there are new customers ordering service. "DTV loses 900,000 customers in 2Q 2020 but adds 2 new customers." How's that for a headline?

Did homeboy really just say he’s doing a couple of installs a day?? Before att bought us we were doing 6-7 a day, 6 days a week. Att royalty and loyalists can say how bad of a purchase it was all they want but the reality is att screwed over dtv customers over and over again and ruined a thriving company, in less then 3 years. Customers either p-ss-d that they cannot understand the call center agent, spent hours on the phone trying to get a tech out, or have some billing issues that cannot be resolved. The product is good, the techs are doing their part but: horrible customer service, 0 product offers, 0 advertising, and over priced service k–led it

I hate this because I really like my $10.75 cable bill.

Dtv tech here, can’t tell we are losing subscribers because I’m building a couple of installs a day! So instead of reporting how many customers are leaving per quarter then why don’t they tell how many new customers are ordering our service?

T needs to buy all remaining dial up internet companies to completely have a monopoly on elderly internet users. T can force autopay and keep billing "customers" after they have passed away. I say buy AOL for $10 billion .

hopefully DTV will be gone much sooner than 2022 - losing 1M subs every Q is dangerous to the future of T. Also, the leadership of T should be FIRED ASAP.

Yup, the DTV acquisition is definitely top tier f— up. It does not hold water to the T-Mobile flop that happened though, that really put the hole in hull. If I recall, it was a $39 billion hand over to a direct competitor.

Theres some kind of animus to innovation anymore with just trying to buy customers. The system is rotten.
