Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Did McElfrsh really state that no one who is part of this massive layoff/surplus will be allowed to work for AT&T ever again?

Not true, at least 10% secured a position.

Get out now, and retire, retire early if you can, and eliminate the stress this place generates. It's only going to get worse, much worse. Getting out this year is going to be better than leaving next year by surplus, many benefits won't be had.

Wow, some people really have trouble with comprehension.

No, Jeffy did not say that anyone let go is forever blackballed from T. What he said is that anyone scheduled to be let go this round will not be picked up in another position before they leave.

Big difference there, sparky. The fact you can't understand that might be one reason why you're gone. There are plenty of stupid people working for T, so they don't need more.

There is plenty about what McArsehole says that is offensive or wrong or worthy of criticism, but this isn't one of them.

I left 2 years ago and I’ve doubled my pay. Get out. You’ll be happier, stress less, make more, and finally enjoy life. Trust me

No actually that’s not what he said. He was speaking in regards to the 14 days notice rather than the traditional 60 days, folks used to get 60 days with the assumption that there would be open positions in other work groups for them to move to. All he said was there are no longer those other open positions. The death star may s— you back in...

Jeff stated that there were no jobs to come back to. Which is comical. Since I was "surplused" on July 10th. On July 17th, I got a call on my personal mobile phone from AT&T HR sourcer asking me if I would be interested in a position to return. I graciously thanked him for his consideration and then explained that I would rather rummage through Burger King dumpsters after they close for my next meal than return to the AT&T workforce. He laughed and said he was actively looking to get out, as well. There you have it.

Never say never. But...He said, if you are surplussed there will be no job here for you to go to.

Anne Chow has a bs in electrical engineering and a MBA, I believe both from Ivy League. She joined legacy AT&T executive leadership program usually where T grooms recent MBAs. She was SVP of Select after the combination of mobility legacy Cingular sellers with legacy T and SBC wireline sellers in late 2007. After they combined Select with Premier Client Group, she was SVP of that sales org. A few years ago, she headed National Business and most recently in 2019 became Chief of the entire AT&T Business Solutions org under COO Stankey.

@1cqz that is the question ... the people I know who were caught up in the July 10th surplus are network cloud engineers. OK, someone wants to clean house for a big cloud computing directional change and layoffs were planned due to economic forces. But then it is reported that McElfresh said that those laid-off will not be rehired. There is no question that valuable talent was lost by this latest purge. Likely, these talented people will quickly find a job elsewhere. But what's up with this latest "strategy" by McElfresh? Is it even true?
