Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

I’ve appreciated how it’s been handled

Like many of you I just want to know where I stand. Do I have a job or don’t I? Like many of you I’m stressed, scared, a little angry and just want to know my fate. Good or bad, I just want to know.
But I do appreciate how this RIF is being handled. What we’ve been told is areas with redundancy would get an assessment through September, more or less. That has been true so far. Most reductions would be completed end of Q3 with some carry over into 2021 with the first wave hitting the end of July. So far that’s been true.
Allstate has created resources for those impacted, resume assistance, interview coaching, etc. And if I’m on the chopping block I will be utilizing these resources.
Local leadership has told us what they know and can divulge, but I always check to see if hr is in any meeting.
I’m not expecting for Tom, Glenn, Greg, Eric, or whomever to say “George from the SE region will no longer have a job effective Monday.” Doubt they care, nor should they, and neither do I who the specific individuals are. Wouldn’t expect them to tell us which groups are impacted. But what they have done is tell us those roles with redundancy, they’re at risk. I appreciate knowing what they’re going after. I appreciate knowing it’s based mostly on performance from the last couple of years. That wasn’t a requirement to share that.
We do have redundant roles that should be eliminated. There are groups that quite honestly don’t add a lot of value. I don’t think anyone will disagree with that.
Senior leaders have communicated the why behind the decision, the approximate time line, the criteria and that it will be at all levels. And although I have no idea if my job is safe and I appreciate the way it’s been handled.

OP, you are 100% spot on. At least we have time and resources to develop new skills. This is a hard time but the negatively is insane! Also. To the commented who said BI roles aren't redundant, you don't understand what redundant means. Obviously a role like that is necessary and isn't being eliminated, it means there are too many people in the role. Hence the reason for a talent selection process.

Not all roles are redundant. We in bodily injury and litigation side have to negotiate and settle claims with attorneys. Are roles are more delicate because of the severity of the claim. We have to also do meditation and sit on trials. So not every role is redundant

Some In this process are doing their job and what is requested based on decisions made by the business. Don’t k–l the messengers required to get it done. Look at where the decisions are made. Read between the lines. Be smart, not emotional.

Thank you for clarifying that you’re merely delusional not in HR. If you stand behind your OP=original post then leave your next tooth under the pillow for The Tooth Fairy.

OP either you are working past HR business hours trying to get this dysfunctional narrative back on track or you are in denial. It seems the higher up someone is within this organization the more out of touch and delusional they are. The “worker bees” who are in the trenches interacting with customers, being held to a higher standard of conduct then their management and are subjected to working many hours after hours to keep up with their work loads are the backbone of Allstate. Managers and above that have relied and profited off the hard work of others, I hope are the ones fired oh I mean “laid off”. The culture of duplicity, dishonesty and scum bag politics has run rampant for YEARS and that’s the reason the business has suffered. READ the surveys, talk to those that keep the wheels on the Allstate bus for true insight then start reductions. Your attrition is high because internally the culture and inner workings are broken. Any hope of righting this RIF wrong is suggested above as a starting place.

Excellent letter written by HR ...bravo , bravo . Well played chap . I needed a good laugh . So far we’ve been told these are exciting times and keep working until our number is called and it’s game over . Just keep your heads down and keep working and hope you have a job they don’t feel is redundant when it’s all over. Pretty much every job is redundant if you think about it . A liability adjuster can be trained to handle rentals , an express adjuster can be trained to write an estimate from 4 photos in states not requiring a license, managers can be trained to source through prospective candidates and interview them , etc. Look at the the employees in India . They were given total loss processor jobs and field adjusters jobs and now dispatcher jobs too .

I, too, enjoy being strung along for months and months not knowing when or if I will be laid off destroying my entire livelihood, my wife and kids also enjoy the massive stress of not knowing if the bills will be paid or if we have to sell our house, move, live with in laws. I really enjoy waking up at 3 am worrying if I have a job or not. I also enjoy being mocked by upper level execs stringing 30-40k people along on this. You are either the best internet troll or a complete F-Ing POS
