Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Some observations

I am old enough to remember when one of Allstate’s goals was to be “an employer of choice” for folks coming out of college. It appears that we have evolved to a point where there appears to be an anger at thegeneral employee from those who currently are at the highest levels of this organization. It appears that the feeling is that Unless you are a director or above, the employee is nothing more than a drain on corporate profit and the bonus potential of high level management. A cog in a great machine...disposable at will.....nothing more.
I hope that I am wrong but there appears to be some satisfaction that senior leadership is gaining by the current position that employees find themselves. There is almost a “glee” in not providing information as shown in Shapiros recent town hall.
It almost seems that senior leadership feels that they themselves are immune to the principles that it preaches and rates all employee on.
When you have senior leaders giving formal timetables on how things are going to be handled going forward and those timetables are never met and the can is kicked down the road...what does that say to the employee that is being assessed constantly on how he/she keeps the commitments that are made to the customer!! Are the commitments made to the employee any less important??? Why give timetables if things have not been totally thought out and are subject to change??
What does it say to the employee when they are warned not to record or make a record of what senior leadership is communicating...If you are being honest and “transparent”, why are you afraid to have a record of your communication??
Where is the leadership by example??
Speaking for myself, I am not angry at the layoffs. It may turn out to be a great business decision.
I am angry at the hubris and hypocrisy that has been the hallmark of this fiasco from the point of Wilson’s first announcement of layoffs. I am angry at the disrespect that has been shown to the worth and value of the Allstate employee that works in the trench’s delivering the promise each day...many working well beyond a normal workday to get the job done and who are made to feel that they are nothing more than a drain on corporate profit and the potential of executive bonuses...
I hope that there are eyes on this Site from those executive penthouses on the Northbrook campus so they can understand.....and maybe take some courses somewhere how to properly communicate in such a way that they will not demoralize....but will learn how to LEAD....
Leadership is more than chopping employee count and it is more than showing slides during a town hall....

They have sub-par benefits, low pay, horrible onboarding and training, and the metrics are made to drive you away. Im not sure they want to be a choice place to work

I appreciate the transparent and honest words. I couldn't agree more. However you are wasting your time. TW, GS, EB, and the powers that be are soul less scum and slime. The only respect they have is for pieces of paper with Benjamin Franklin's face on it. Frankly I doubt they even respect themselves. If they have any shred of humanity left in them they almost puke when they look at themselves in the mirror....but I doubt that happens. They are lost causes.
