Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Thoughts on Tech Mahindra?

I personally find it very difficult and frustrating, trying to collaborate with Tech Mahindra resources. I’m finding that is due to cultural differences, as much as to communication issues. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

Obviously AT&T needs more diversity and inclusion and unconscious bias training.

TechM is just like every other Indian off sourcing company, mostly a bunch of minimally skilled testers and devs, who just show up , do minimal work to satisfy the rich contract that ATT awarded them. It's not the low level folks fault, most kinda wanna do a good job, but they're lowest dollar staff and zero motivation, and c-ap pay.

Who wins? TechM management and executives, ATT executives who don't have to deal with any of the day to day b—s— but collect fat paychecks .

ATT is not alone there are hundreds of US companies that use Indian off shoring to save a few pennies , in the end they save nothing because it's sh– work they do

The TechM model is to take offshore testers or other minimally trained resources and have them take on work assignments that they cannot technically and competently support. Their philosophy is to get former T resources to train and train their testers until they have a small idea of what the real technical role is they are assuming. They are a company that claims to be a technology company that cannot even manage their internal systems to allow X T resources to perform all the administrative work expected by the TechM leadership. Offshore resources have sited the lack of leadership they get and the poor compensation they receive. This was another Ratty and Stinky plan to say goodbye to values resources young and old. Lastly the TechM X ATT employers get zero direction from their so called onshore TechM managers!! Reason being these TechM onshore resources are testers and have zero idea how to become useful management resources. ATT you gave away some very high valued resources that know the ATT applications and processes to a company trying to figure out how to replace them. ATT clients that have to work with TechM non X ATT employees would pull the plug with them if possible as they have proven over and over that they do not know how to support the apps and roles they assumed. Another sad saga of ATT not thinking before doing.

guess that is why Artificial Intelligence is taking over your job. Will get rid of human interaction between different cultures. AI will be able to do your job while everybody is asleep non-stop and will not b–ch and complain. Cultural interaction will be a thing of the past once scripted computers take over the world and we are living on welfare aka universal basic income. Yeah what a POS isolationist you are.

My favorite is when you are on an outage call or doing a release and in the middle of a critical step and they announce their shift is over and some unpronounceable name will joining to take over ...and you need to go back 1 steps and explain everything to them

What do you expect when you go with the low bid and offshore the work. Tech M is there to make money by just meeting any SLAs not by going above and beyond. AT&T is always nickel and diming them on the contracts.

I always wondered if T actually saves anything with the tech m moves. What T makes up in employee cost they lose with redundant work where it takes tech m 2 to 3 times longer to complete a task that it would have taken an T employee to do. The best part is when you have a question for them and try to get a response in a timely manner which is close to impossible because of their time zone and work hours

Communication issues is an understatement. I have been in numerous projects where 6 weeks Or more, we realize that we are not not in lock step because they misunderstood what the ask was. Wasted time, efforts, resources to doing wheels in the mud.

If hired by TechM, and if re-badged to them and able to not get laid off shortly after, they are a very good company to work for. I know a lot of people over the last 20+ years that have been under their employ and they are quite happy, and claim they are well taken care of.

Tech M and the rest of these outfits already got their huge contracts signed, they don't have to be competitive in pricing or services which means zero motivations to do a decent jobs. They will show up and collect their fee. There may some individuals who are ethical and wants to earn their pay, but top down, it's a walk in the park and they all know it. It is the beauty of the culture transformation, stagnation.

They are getting what they pay for. T gave the employees that actually cared the boot, so now they have to deal with tech m where the turn over is ridiculous and they rarely have their old people train their replacements.

You need to collaborate more.
Get more nano degrees.
Be more involved in T space.
Be kinder to your "team"
Respect you leaders and their wisdom.
Embrace diversity and all just causes.

Or, show up.
Try to run them out of $$$.
Smile and wave and win.

Let's see how we got there.

We start with Ratty and Stinky, that don't care about anything except for their compensation, and come up with all these wonderful ideas to save T from paying severance and rebadging employees to TM, Accenture, IBM, whatever, and train their replacement over there. Then six months later or so, the former employee are gone. The replacements have not really learn much about the business and don't care. They are just happy to to have a job while it lasts.

So why would you expect supposed "leadership" that don't care and build a strategy which results in replacement low cost bodies that don't care either?
