Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Health stress/FMLA

Is there a way to get stress leave through fmla. This whole situation has literally but me in a spot where I’m too overwhelmed to do the job, as I’m sure it has for many.

Anyone know the ends and outs of that process?

At our location we had an employee that took a nap during lunch, never woke up again.
Stress related, get this, she received an occurrence for not coming back from lunch.
Allstate gives zero *!#ks about you.

Mental health is very important. I resigned from Allstate 16 months ago after recovering from “burnout” which spiraled into depression and anxiety. I was on STD for two months prior to my resignation. While on STD I found another job within the industry with a different insurance company. Higher pay, better work conditions, several opportunities for advancement ( I’ve been promoted, training for my new position now). There is life after Allstate. Having Allstate on your resume is a plus. Good Luck to you!

This is what happens when everyone gets a trophy. Pull up your big boy panties and deal with it.

How are you gaming the system? Thats what it is for. Now just bc you are a scammer doesn't mean everyone else is. Put your health first!! Had the company been more transparent, you wouldn't have so many people needing to go out due to stress and anxiety.

How to game the system
It's this type of unethical thinking by Sr Management that put Allstate in this position.
The company has created a pool of "gamers"
Get out and get ethical!

You have to contact HR, Allstate first. Read the rules. They give you an option to have an HR rep or no from Allstate work with you. You have to contact Allstate first and then they transfer you to the leave team. The leave team will get the claim started and keep Allstate HR and your manager abreast. You dont have to tell your manager, you can let them do it. Either way, you have to contact Allstate HR FIRST! I just went through it, I know. I aint guessing or speculating. Read the leave policy. You dont gave to give them any info. You can just give it to Sedgwick. You have to stay on top of Sedgwick, they mess up alot. You don't want your job to be in jeopardy, so do it the right way. You can contact your doctor and make an appt or contact the therapist you want to use. They have to fill out the paperwork. Take care of you first, as you see: Allstate dont give a F about us..

OP take care of yourself first, no one will be your advocate better then you. Do not go to your regional HR/Manager first as they will try and push you out and use this stressful time/situation against you. First call Sedgwick then Second go to a trusted therapist or doctor to complete the paperwork. Your HR/direct Manager will pose as concerned and caring prior to the approval don’t disclose ANYTHING. Follow the process and take time to heal ❤️

Allstate can"t lay you off while you're on medical leave but they can the day after you return to work.

It’s crazy how Allstate doesn’t even care about us our mental state. We’re just numbers to them. I hate having huddles and they ask about morale now. That’s a complete slap in the face.

I am on stress leave now. Contact Allstate Hr. Then contact Sedgwick. They will send you the forms. Go to your doctor or therapist and have them fill out the documents. This is week 3 for me and 4 more to go. I havent got a layoff notice. My claim has been approved. Notify your manager that you ha e started the process. They approve you for FMLA and short term at the same time. Stress and depression, anxiety is covered..

Follow the instructions on this. But FMLA will not protect your job in this situation.
Depending on if an assessment is involved you may want to make sure you still take that.

I would be careful with this. Word out of the State I work in is, if you try to go on leave/FMLA during the layoffs, the company will lay you off before they approve the leave.

You can go on Short Term Disability for your mental health and be paid during the whole thing. 1st talk to your trusted doctor or mental health professional, then call Sedgwick (runs Allstate’s STD) to start your claim (give them as little info as possible, let your healthcare provider do that), then call the attendance hotline or your supervisor to say you have filed an STD claim and will be out for the foreseeable future (don’t tell them why, Sedgwick will never tell Allstate why, nor are they able to). Many people have done this. Take care of and protect yourself. Good luck!

An old co-worker of mine managed to do this years ago. Had a note from a doctor/therapist that allowed them to take the leave. They were out for what felt like months.

Probably need to talk to HR to get that sorted out properly.
