Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Non-hub Cities Layoffs

So the T decided that everyone should be near a collaboration center...because it is better for our social lives & our careers...except Debbie & Mike did not have an explanation for how that would help our careers since the are FLATTENING the organization and there are less and less areas for advancement. So we continue to invest hundreds of millions of $ in buildings that so nothing but make people commute and have even less time for more important things- like life.

We have been going since March with close, reporting , etc. just working fine.

Take all the people that want to go into the office & let them...let those that want to work from home do so...

Then downsize all our buildings & invest that $ in 5G...the real one not 5G "lite" or AT&T 5G...

And take some of Randall's $ back for the mess he's made of the company...don't try to blame it on COVID Randall.....we were dying before that...

The problems with the ATO organization go way back. AT&T limits peoples work into finely defined roles and allows them to do a single task. Whereas in many other tech companies a single person can perform the tasks that AT&T requires 3-4 people to perform. So yes, our cost structure is higher than other companies. Another problem is leadership never sticks around long enough to see their decisions through to completion. They jump around causing havoc and then jump again and never take responsibility for their decisions. They need to stop rotating non-technical leaders into technical organizations. J Legg sounds like he knows what he is talking about and is a straight shooter about and has pretty project charts but that is all we've seen so far. But is keeps bringing in his buddies from WM and we haven't seen any flattening or the org yet. In fact I think there may have been some new positions added.

If that’s true about under utilized employees, then why are technicians in various areas of the country being under utilized and yet they’re hiring even more techs? None of this makes sense because if Covid is impacting the business, then why is T expecting more business down the road? Business could possibly be slow for the rest of this year as we expect it to be and possibly we’ll into next.

Layoffs are appropriate - as there are many under-utilized and low value-add employees and revenue per employee is much lower for T than our competitors. You might not like that, but I hope that makes sense for you.

They are making up non-sensical excuses for the lay-offs—why bother?

Who do they think they’re fooling?
