This company cut my co workers for budget purposes but will spend thousands of dollars on new computers for no reason. Meaning everything operates as it should but will spend that money. They are the ones who should be let go.
Where is Glenn Post ? This Jeff Story and his group are completely incompetent but what do you expect from a Democrat.
Jeff Story needs to read Trump's book and put the comic books down
The Level3 and Centurylink merger was a mistake from the start. This rebranding and asset separation is a clear indication of that mistake. It looks like they're in the process of salvaging what they can from the various markets that are not meeting their metrics. It's a dog eat dog world in the telecom market and it takes no survivors. You have a choice to get with the plan or find another one.
"The sacrifice of the few for the survival of the many."
Good luck to you all.
You're going to need it.
Thanks to The Covid, enterprise will suffer and loose money. Who wants to go to a big office and get infected? Residential and small business is where the money will be for a few years. Let sToReY have his Lumen wet dream.
The dumpster fire analogy is spot on.
Level 3 is now Centurylink. I take that back..... Level 3 is now Lumen!
So on Tuesday do we start having to post on Thread regarding LUMEN layoffs
They perforated the page for easy, clean separation of the centurylink division. Not a bad idea but premature happy ending is embarrassing....usually for the guy. This time seems woman should be embarrassed. Will she still be around Monday for the official announcement?
So glad today was my last day with this conpany!

Today was just the logical conclusion of the absolute dumpster fire that has been Centurylink over the past several months, and really since Level 3 essentially took over the company over 2 years ago. The purging of Legacy Centurylink leadership is complete and what is left is a CLEC leadership team that is completely in over their heads.
A typical cluster, who is the id–t that authorized an email be sent out to the wrong distribution??? So typical of this company, everyday is a new mess. Oh well...Just another typical day of incompetence from leadership.... such a joke
Typical Leadership Competency issues. I have to say this was a huge mistake by the person who sent out the email. If you can’t get that right, what is really going on behind the scenes.
I’m not surprised! If the CEO is only knew that this happens on a daily basis buy rarely impacts him.
Incompetency!
Sell your shares...hurry
Does it matter that when you type lumen.com it redirects to http://lumen.com/index.lasso? Could the actual lumen.com be updated but waiting until the 15th to be active?
They should have had lumen.com secured at least a month ago. Thinking they could do a domain transfer and go live the same day is really stupid. It can take days for DNS to fully propagate.
Lumen will be a place you work under constant threat of your job being moved offshore, pay being cut and no retirement security. Interesting that this new brand is kicking itself off with a monumental blunder like this accidental email. A sign of things to come I’m sure. I’ve seen a lot over years United Telephone become Sprint and Sprint spin of their local to become Embarq only to be absorbed into Centurytel and finally renamed CenturyLink. This whole thing has the feel of the FON tracking stock just before the Sprint spinoff. It will be interesting to see how this goes.
Hearing lumen long term play, may move from residential phase out
Centurylink is rebranding to Lumen, but doesn’t have a domain name figured out yet for the company. Lumen.com is for sale...!
company name is changing to lumen
Anything to keep from fixing any of the real issues in this company.
Ok, thanks for the info on the shares. But I would think the plan is to divide up the company. I’m going to pick up some shares on Monday just in case there is a split.
Thanks
To the guy asking about shares. . .from what we know here it's just a name change so no new shares. If anything the name of the CTL shares will be changed to Lumen shares (whatever the ticker symbol is to be).
Effective Tuesday, Sept. 15th, the company will change it's name to Lumen Technologies. CenturyLink will be the brand for consumer/biz copper customers. Enterprise/Large Biz/Federal will be Lumen. Fiber will be called Quantum Fiber.
So, if I buy 1 share of CTL now. Will I also get one share of Lumen?
When life gives you Lumen you make Lumenaid! Good Luck!!
Thank you.
We're changing brand to Iluminati

To the guy/gal who managed to print out the email. Could you take a pic and upload please?
"Is CenturyLink going to buy the patent office for the domain name of Lumen.com? "
They bought the domain and it will go live on Tuesday 9/15
Consumer side is staying Centurylink. Enterprise and Government are changing to Lumens.
Maybe we can unload consumer and not have to go through the Strike Contingency BS every 5 years when the union threatens to strike.
Nothing surprises me anymore I was orig hired by UsWEST - I am just 41 and I have been layed off from the Company 4 times (as union and not) The last being 2018 round.
I currently work contracted back and laughed when I saw that email, HUGE Oops - not only did she send to everybody - she sent it to EVERYBODY!!
We have been dealing with a bunch of projects having budget cuts (cancel) or freeze (defer to 2021) in the last 2wks – all makes sense now.
They never have ever seemed to think long term on these things - the 4-5yr cycle my friends. it's alive and well
This is just lipstick on a pig. It'll still be the same sh–ty company.
Looking at Lumen.com, Limen.com is a patent office website. Is CenturyLink going to buy the patent office for the domain name of Lumen.com? Hm...
Anytime someone tries really hard to convince me that something is "good" I get that not so good tingling feeling in my taint!
Centurylink rebranding to Lumen. They've also branding enterprise/gov as "Quantum fiber"

The Launch video for the rebrand, without a hint of irony in a cheerful antidepressant commercial voice proclaimed "Welcome, to the fourth industrial revolution!"
Some Funny s**t...... M W not the sharpest ..... obviously never actually met her. Many things but dumb aint one of em. Farewell copper....somebody will dust off Glenn to ride that ship into the absolutely inevitable rocks. Good news, particularly if you already knew you worked for a tech company and not a telco.
I have a bad feeling this means layoffs down the line. I just got hired in March.
