Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Who is hiring?

I see many older employees asking who is hiring those in their age bracket but I'd really like to know if there's anybody hiring at all? Some of us in our thirties would also like to leave this place but frankly, I'm not seeing any available options (I'm talking about comparable pay here, of course.) Any ideas?

The big 3 in line work construction contracting companies ie Quanta Telecom, Mastec, and Dycom continue to hire as they gain long term (3-5 years) contracts from the likes of AT&T Verizon CenturyLink Frontier Comcast Charter and Windstream for fiber coax and fiber/wireless. The Dycom company I work at in Silicon Valley just bumped wages to match CWA union scale based on experience with the guys topping out at $44 per hour.

With the SDN, I don’t see many technician jobs surviving in the long term. There might be plenty of work in the short run, but if an opportunity presents itself to abandon ship, I know I certainly would! T just won’t require as many to do the work!

If you lack a technological skill set then attend a vocational school and learn something along the lines of plumbing, electrical, automotive, etc. Attending useless meetings, selling phones at a retail store, and hiding out in your cubicle is soul k–ling.

Hiring of Corporate white collar jobs will be very low for a while, in fact more white collar layoffs are coming in Sept./October. A few industries (some tech, home goods related ) may see hiring but most won't, due to the massive demand destruction due to the pandemic.

Play the ATT game at least for another year , once the vaccine is widespread labor markets will begin to rebound then it would be a good time to investigate opportunities.

I saw on TV today that Verizon was hiring 1000 work-from-home customer representatives.
