BTW, don't use video chat on webex to save network bandwidth. And, you are highly encourage to watch all videos coming out from these youtube star wannabe's. You need to stay informed and aligned with the latest corporate strategy and goals.

I was going to suggest doing a webex video chat with my whole team and binge on Stank and McFresh videos. No one will take up on the offer, tough crowd.

Years ago some smart executive decided that no emails could be sent on Wednesdays, because email was taking up too much space on servers, and the email ban was to encourage the use of the telephone instead.

I questioned the ban, and my 5th level manager basically said to shut-up and not send email on Wednesdays.

Ironic really, they push collaboration and productivity but now want you to “work solo” one day a week. Or take the day off. Got the email today, says don’t schedule any meetings on Fridays unless necessary.

Google it - this is just the latest shiny management fad - my director started talking about this a month ago.

The C- MBAs that run this company think they can solve all their problems with this BS voodoo because they think the real problem is employees aren't being "bold" enough and not that the company is a rudderless ship with horrible customer service and high prices.

This is only to get more work done on Friday to reduce OT on the weekends.
I'd do the same if I was in charge.
But I wasn't, and liked my OT, so I'd just work slower on Friday from now on.
You folks need to start thinking.

Are you really surprised, this is what "going after the low hanging fruit" is all about. Writing an email that says no meeting on Fridays takes a minute. Doing the actual effort in simplifying this bureaucracy and eliminate meetings, nah, no way. Those in power wants to be a stakeholder in every tiny decision is driving all these useless executive review meetings, layer after layer. Is that going change? Better check with your culture expert and see which way the wing is blowing.

Makes so much sense - we'll all have more free time if we have the same number of meetings compressed into a smaller time frame. It's hard enough finding an empty slot in 10 people's 5-day schedules...Even harder when you're limited to 4 days.

  • on the other hand, since my last day was last week, no further complaints about this....Just keep the lights on until I collect my pension / severance / bonus next year.
