Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Lifers Out - Watch it!

Lot of lifers will cash out and EOI. They’re not dumb. The writing is on the wall in IT. Two more years of pin ball Bill, buzzwords, and smiley Joe pep talks just aren’t worth it when you have money in the bank. Downward pressure in 2021 will only increase when magical digital savings fail to materialize.

DIGITAL: Lipstick on a pig, like a prev poster mentioned re-branding. I suppose it keeps the vendors happy. Has anyone actually tried using the replacements for Archer, Remedy and so on. Not that those were up to much but the replacements are even worse! Look forward to less productive employees as they toil with the latest tools which don't work, Eventually the employees will find ways to work around the tools deficiencies to get work done late. Not that the exec team gives a dam of course.

Challenging #digital is a career limiting move in Chevron. Schlumberger is going to screw us so bad next year, it will hurt all the way to the top. Make no mistake, service companies thrive in times if chaos, and thats what its gonna be with this Triple Crown f-up.

1984 is here - up is down, black is white. Freedom is slavery, It's right here folks and are WE are all living it. AND you know it but no one can say this of course.

The so-called people in charge speak this language very well, It is called "NEWSPEAK" in George Orwell's 1984. Other examples are "DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION", "WINNING IN ANY ENVIRONMENT" "TRANSFORMING TO WIN", "AGILE" the list goes on and on. Who thinks this BS up? and we are whacked over the head with them, all day long until we can no longer think independently - they are all classic examples of complete and utter nonsense designed to control the way we think. MIND CONTROL

Chevron management just sold the farm on the bet that schlumberger and Microsoft know more about developing oil and gas finding technology that anything that could have been developed in house. Microsoft thinks we are just another industry with data and Schlumberger is happy to play along and take notes on Chevron’s nickel so they can commercialize the package to others down the road. I hope it all works out, but fear it a huge spend for hot air and obscuration.

There is nothing MW hates more than high-cost (non-management) employees. The EOIs are designed to eradicate the (high-cost) Boomers who didn’t leave in 2015. Second thing MW hates? Boomers who call him out on his mistakes. MW wants Chevron to be nothing but anointed managers and working-level drones. He fantasizes about AI replacing the working drones. AI doesn’t complain or suggest alternatives.

Most of the digital initiatives are things we have been doing for years that have now been rebranded.

Marketing c-ap. Jim Crompton said it best before his retirement but nobody listen. They all wasted billions on marketing b—s— that is not producing anything

Digital is not an asset and is not an enabler, simple as that.

I have no idea what digital is. I mean really, what the hell is it? Its probably one of the most abused words around like all its predecessors (IT, CLOUD, etc) meaningless. Its the kind of word business people love because it is completely meaningless, and of course it has to be a GOOD thing. No-one can argue with it or question it all. I have digit for it and it the middle digit on my hand.

btw of course I know what it isa, I used to program a digital computer in the late 70's, all 1's and 0's in assembly code, but I think you get my drift. My point is we have been digital for 40+ years! duh I mean duh

Digital is a crock. Amazing how much we are spending adding digital resources all around the company. It is being pedaled by the consultants.
