Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

They are targeting short tenure employees

They are actually moving many to other less desirable positions at a reduction in pay up to 10% to avoid severance payouts as much as possible. They are quite open in the position that if they are going to pay people anything that they are going to get work and production out of them. And I really do think that they are targeting short tenure employees as less than a year gets no severance and only two weeks per year (as far as we know at the moment, they love to change the rules as we recently saw). This is to be done as cheap and with as little paid out to the affected laid off people as it can. And this arrogant company would have to see a TON of bad press to go as far as to pay out any more than they already have to.

Or they just fire them, like they did me. Stated I did not make a call when I documented that I did. They fought me on getting unemployment benefits, I gave the unemployment office all the proof I had that I did my job correctly and after a three week investigation they determined that Allstate did NOT fire me for just cause and was able to get benefits. Snakes.

They just want production numbers at the Auto DOCs. If you let the high level 5s and up, you can bring in more inexperienced bodies to handle more claims.

The severance package is not comparable to how much they would save by firing a long tenure employee. I highly doubt that not paying a severance package is a consideration in who they choose. You're way more like each other soon because you're inexperienced or a poor performer.

If it's anything like what's been done in the past, they look at performance then tenure (except now the assessment comes... who knows how that'll play out).

The past layoff, we lost 2 good managers because they were the lowest tenured people in the role, performance being equal. Both posted for different jobs and relocated. We lost auto adjusters and I know those were based on performance–one had a lot of tenure, one didn't.

I work in a group with a lot of tenure, probably 20 years average. It's also a high performing group so it'll be harder to weed out the poor performers because there aren't any. That being the case, I'm sure those assessments will come in very handy. They really have to be as objective as possible, otherwise you're subject to EEOC complaints regarding age discrimination. You can sign all the waivers you want. There are plenty of attorneys who'd consider it as being signed under duress.

They don't want to pay money, they trying to cut cost, they are slashing folks with longer tenure, who have big salaries. I am salaried LDU, 50k. It's folks been in this role 20 years. I know they make waaayyy more than 50k. They gunning for them.

Please stop reporting employees with less than 1 year got no severance. The plan states less then 1 year will receive 2 weeks.

I don’t believe that for a second. I’m thinking they’re targeting the higher salaries
