Management or union? For management there are more paid options and benefits.

The answer is both, and neither. FMLA is something the federal government requires. AT&T has it's own set of policies about what sort of absences and leaves are allowed and which are paid or unpaid. That's going to vary by what sort of employee you are (management, union) and possibly what state you live in since some states require certain situations to be paid and other states don't.

If you take any sort of AT&T-permitted leave and it's for a reason that FMLA also covers, the company will also call it FMLA leave to run the clock on the 12 weeks. Simply because AT&T doesn't want to give you the leave their policy allows, and then potentially have to give you 12 MORE weeks for FMLA.

For a management employee with a legit reason to not be at work, FMLA is mostly irrelevant.

FMLA is unpaid but you receive short time disability payments through ATT STD insurance. I’m not sure of percentages or time but I’ve known people that have been out for as long as a year that were working the system and said they were getting 70% of their pay at the end. FMLA itself just says that your job will not be backfilled as long as you have you I’s dotted and T’s crossed on all the appropriate paperwork and a doctor to sign off. My relative hated it and thought it was a government handout til he got cancer and would’ve lost everything. Great government program where you have to take the good with the bad.

Hey Mr Basic information , no one can understand the FMLA rules as written. You need to get a counselor from somewhere to guide you .

FMLA means you get time and a half. More people should just do it for more money.

FMLA itself is unpaid - but some departments treat it as sick time so they pay you , but that’s your departments decision.

I got paid for up to 12 weeks a year. You need to notify your boss you need the forms when you call in. He/she can not ask you anything. You fill the forms out with "condition 1" 2 or whatever you have on file.
You will be approved and paid..although in the last year they paid only 10 sick days, but you still got 12 weeks.
