Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

What would you do?

If you were laid of by Allstate and you got a chance to re-apply a month or two or even a year later either for your old job or something else, would you do it? Would you willingly return to this place?

For me personally, the only way I would return would be if there were really absolutely no other job opportunities available. Otherwise, once I'm gone, I'm gone.

2 - 3 years ago they laid off too many claims reps then a month later asked some to come back . It’ll happen again after people start driving again after the pandemic is over .

Should a wife who is regularly beaten go back to her husband?

Most agent know next to nothing about how a policy and the coverage actually works.

Their true craft is sales, not insurance

To the agent!! Maybe find out if a customer actually has health insurance before you make them health insurance primary? How about explaining to a customer what a PIP policy is? How many calls do we get a day because the agent doesn’t explain to the customer what they are selling to them!!

In response to the agent - it would help if all the agents explained the overages they are selling to the customers and verified that the polices were accurate (coordinated, ownership, resident relative) then Allstate wouldn't be paying our primary on a policy that collected coordinated premiums. Then the claim reps wouldn't be stuck delivering the bad news about the bad policy you sold them just to write business and meet your numbers.

As for pinching pennies, do you have any idea the scams and fraud the customers and providers pull? Fake injuries, overpriced doctor bills, ambulance chasing lawyers. You have no idea what a claim rep deals with. You couldn't handle it.

The door swings both ways. You should be ashamed!

Funny you say that Mr./Ms. Agent. We in agency services have been clamoring with corporate to have the same say for you all for years now.

I can name 10 agents that I wouldn't just vote off the island but throw into the volcano.

I can't wait for the day we go full direct in this company.

I don’t know about how some of the agents feel but there are some terrible claim reps that never call our insureds to follow up and they pinch every penny on the claim to piss off the insured. Think the agents should have a say to rid the bad claim reps and keep the happy competent ones.

I didn't plan to go into insurance, just fell into it. If I am let go I will use the opportunity to change careers.

So many great people that work here, however the company has left me feeling exasperated.

Allstate strikes me as a clunky, tactless, and sloppy company.

I’d reconsider should the the culture evolve into something better.

Absolutely not!

I would take something that paid less money before I would return to Allstate once I’m gone.
