It's been a long 5 years of budget cuts and holds. Layoffs hanging over our head, and I'm frustrated to the point of not caring anymore. I couldn't imagine this being my career and just so disappointed. As many have pointed out who would have known this place would be a titanic and a debt load larger than any company in the whole freaking world. Versus all of the tech companies growing and their stock price rocketing. DAM IT.

I left in 2016 and the situation frustrating the Original Poster were 100% there then. I did 20 years and the stress of surpluses annually, having to put career movement and growth on hold to not move into a role that may get cut, and just the “at least I have a job” mentality that everyone took to deal with the toxic environment was enough.
I decided that I would at least leave and if I find a worse situation on the outside at least I tried to find better
Watching the “2020” plan come to a head and watching all of my former coworkers/friends go thru this makes me not only remember the toxic environment but also drives me to post and say there is life after AT&T and that life will more likely be better!!!!! Move on if you are tapped and move forward with your eyes wide open if you are not impacted by the layoffs.
We are put on earth to thrive and flourish, not to hide from the surplus axe and live in a stressful work environment that does not value your efforts
They have money to give Stankey 30% pay increases a year along with 2 million in perks!! Stankey is on the $100 million dollar gravy train, and the employees are tied to the tracks as he barrels down on them!!
It’s a multi-billion dollars business, just look up the annual report. The fact is that management is squandering opportunities, money and talents in the worst way possible. id–ts who have absolutely no business in executive positions are promoted repeatedly because of their seniority and kissing behinds. People who have options are gone or actively looking to jump ship. Those with less marketable job prospects are staying, with extreme prejudice against the company. Welcome to the new normal.
The irony is theres PLENTY OF MONEY. Let's not kid ourselves ATT is a cash cow. It's a virtual monopoly for Telecom in the US,
Think about it , there's still paying a healthy dividend. So it's complete management bs there's no money.. there's just "no money" for employees, because it's shareholders and executives who are first in line.
Yep why I left greener pastures and more exciting future. I was there 17 years and I just got tired of constant budget cuts and no money. But hey they are a cash cow. So many other companies doing great right now that att wishes they could be in the same league.
