Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

My opinion

I work here now in customer success for cloud products. In short. Mgmt is horrible. There are no pay raises. The people running the GBU’s are pathetic slobs. The people who came in via acquisitions, like my manager, are useless with joke resumes. They told oracle before coming they were this or that and oracle made them that. The mgm layer here are frauds who are stepping on the backs of some good talented people. Oracle is not IT, not tech. It’s a mish mash of companies that people built and oracle broke up. They will never even come within striking distance of AWS. We can’t even get their leftovers. The mgmt team needs to look in the mirror and realize they ain’t worth sh–. How do you wake up every day knowing you’re a fraud? Hahahahaha.

Op is right. Oracle is a dump. Much of the management is corrupt. Wouldn't surprise me if they were just hiring their friends to do nothing but take up space and bow to them.

The only people ORCL cares less about than its customers are its employees.

Seems like this site has a common theme about oracle and their leadership. It’s kind of funny cause no one even talks about O any more.

Not an oracle employee but my cousin works there. I did work at a big tech company and a common theme does seem to be the incompetence and well lack of real leaders in mgmt. it’s not surprising. It is just a common theme I see. And really, you can’t expect named leaders who didn’t earn their spot to be incompetent or liked. What I read It seems like many of them just approve vacations and aren’t there to inspire, mentor, develop people. I hear everything is self service and while that’s fine, leaders in other tech and any industry do DO the things I mentioned. Anyhow, good luck to all of you. It’s just a job. Not who you are.

Not disagreeing but it is Oracle. Fairly low on the tech and cloud chain these days. There definitely is a ton of chatter about their mgmt culture. I don’t work there but I see it as a common theme In here and Glassdoor. Guess it doesn’t matter. Everyone, even non techies know AWS is by far and away the leader. I hope all you Oracle employees just enjoy whatever you do. I used to work at a big tech company. I know there are lots of people stealing money. It does drain morale.

Not management, and not on a time card. You don’t know the entire org!

Not to support either side but seems like there are lots that agree that Oracle is going down the drain and things look to get worse this summer.

I’m so offended. I know you’re some pig manager who thinks ppl like him. They don’t. They smile to your face and then talk smack on you. Our entire org that aren’t mgmt have time cards. Probably arguing with a guy who doesn’t even work for the company. Haha.

The funny thing is, do you see me complaining about my actual job or salary? No. You don’t just tell someone if they don’t like things to leave. Look at the current state of our country (imagine you’re in the states), it’s about change. Even the good reviews on Glassdoor all day culture is terrible and needs to change. If this is news to you, you and your little group must be in some bubble. My old manager actually asked if I wanted to be in mgmt at Oracle. I said no. I don’t think they do much work and if they do, talk about skills, it’s approving my vacation. Haha. Even time cards are auto approved. Hahahahaha.

To the ape, talking about mental health and grabbing ankles. No clue what that means. Sounds like some homophobic reference. You’re the typical kool aid drinking robot. You are exactly why O will never ever be in the class with AWS. My skills? Well I’ve been here 13 years, best at my role in my unit, and usually the go to for all things in my role. Two degrees. I get job offers all the time and you can say I’m complaining but there are a ton of people just like me. We want the company to be better, but the mgmt (please do your homework and read the reviews of people with more than 12 mos in job on Glassdoor) is a huge fat layer of incompetence. Like the managers in the GBU’s stay there for decades!!! How does that even happen in a “dynamic tech company”? You know why? As someone said, the “old men and women network” is alive and well at Oracle.

I don’t really care what you think of me. You’re probably someone with tunnel vision and refusing to admit what has been going on for decades. Do your homework and read how many people here are f’n happy to get laid off.

That’s so typical of a robot. You don’t want someone who says things are totally screwed up. You’re all like “well leave”....imagine if you told a black lives matter person if they don’t like how things are done by police to just leave the country? Our mgmt not much different. And my manager and their manager got in the back door and have less skills and real exp than me and my co workers. Like how does that even happen? I will tell you how...when you’re friends hire their friends. Please dude. Keep drinking.

The OP is a “typical” oracle employee. Out-of-date, unmarketable skills (by definition, or he would no longer be at Oracle) , blaming company woes on management, H1Bs, wasting time arguing on this site, and so forth. Personally I have no stake in this, tho agree that the company is circling the drain.

you’re griping about management and then laughing that they are all losers? Wow, you are either a troll, or should go find another job elsewhere. If you don’t then that is on you. I find it interesting how most of the apparent-Oracle posters complain and lament, yet seem not to have any capacity for introspection.
This is the OP. I’m not a troll or an agitator. I’m an oracle employee who has worked here for over a decade. For those that got all butt hurt about the truth of this POS company, F U. You’re probably a scumbag manager stepping on the backs of people who could own you.

Wow, are most Oracle employees like you? Problems at home perhaps? You just proved my points again, but incredibly you can’t see it.

  • First, I don’t report to an incapable manager at Oracle. YOU do. And fortunately I don’t manage anyone like you. Therefore, if anyone is (to use your id–tic term) “butt hurt”, it’s you since you’re the one grabbing your ankles, not me.
  • Second, look up the word “introspection” in the dictionary. You are complaining on this board about managers, and then laughing because you think they are id–ts. Then, you seem more interested in complaining about them than improving your own plight. All I did was point that out, which only seems to make you madder

Btw - I suggest that you call the Oracle EAP number. It is anonymous. A good mental health professional may be able to help you work through all of this.

I see a lot of "if you do not like it, leave". I did it the second time I was told and it was the right thing to do. To like it you have to be a politician or really untalented. Everybody else should leave

“hope for Oracle”!?!? Yeah right. At this point Oracle is basically just a giant POS. Customers know it. Employees know it. Everyone knows it. Try to find an Oracle customer who wants to stay on Oracle products. You can’t. CIOs are either already off oracle prods, or trying to figure out how to get off.

They wake up and as long as they have a six-figure paycheck coming from Ellison every two weeks, that's all they care about. Larry Ellison would be p-ss-d if he ever knew that good ol boy (and women) network happens at his organization. Jeopardizing productivity and optimization in talented people.

I thought Oracle nuked the bulk of the customer success org this past spring. ??

Meanwhile you’re griping about management and then laughing that they are all losers? Wow, you are either a troll, or should go find another job elsewhere. If you don’t then that is on you.

I find it interesting how most of the apparent-Oracle posters complain and lament, yet seem not to have any capacity for introspection. It those are the only kinds of employees remaining at the company then there is indeed no hope whatsoever for an Oracle recovery let alone any return to excellence.

It’s not unique at Oracle. If you don’t like what you see, find another job while you still have a job.
