Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Retail directors

Seeing other orgs do away with director level. Any plans to have ARSMs report directly to VP like in other business units?

Ummmm my DOS has 8 ARSMs who all have 11- 20 stores each. DOS has about 90-100 ATTR/AR stores. Those salary ranges are 100% not accurate nor the direct report #s you gave. If that is going on in any market, they should absolutely be evaluated for reduction. However, I doubt that’s the case.

A few years back Directors has 50 stores. Now they have 25-30 and have 4-5 ARSM under them that have 5 stores. They should go to a model of at least 10-15 stores per ARSM, 50-75 per Director and 250 for VPGM. VPGM makes $350k+all in with benefits and stock bonus. Directors at $200k+ And ARSM at $175K so imagine cutting 25%-35% of them. That would be $100M off payroll very quickly. When they cut half of the assistant manager in 2017 it was $400M and effected 4K people. Imagine cutting 500 people and saving $100M

Idk what part of the East y’all work in but sitting at home yelling or micromanaging people with an overpaid salary is more like the DOS job. Not ARSM. And either way, both positions are valuable. Bad apples are in any org. Not all are lazy.

@ibzy I agree, 10 years w/ the company and the past years the arsm position are just a bunch of a$& kissers and POS. Overpaid and do nothing

Should get rid of ARSMs, in my area at least, they are completely useless. With the exception of possibly 3, who are great. ARSMs of 4-5 or more years ago were amazing people, fun, engaging and got the job done. But they got smart and moved on. I don’t typically wish for anyone to lose their job, however in the Northeast, the ARSM job should just be eliminated. Most just sit at home and have a few conference calls a week and scream at everyone, why pay 6 figures for something unnecessary, could save other jobs. I’m sure this isn’t a popular opinion but I’m entitled to mine.
