If the numbers I'm hearing are correct, yesterday's round was not that large. Meaning that we are still looking at more layoffs, they will only be spaced over the following few weeks. I'm not sure if that has to do with WARN or whatever, but that's the approach I believe they're taking.

Definitely horrible. I feel for all folks working at Anthem. I worked there many years and there was always a round of layoffs waiting to happen. Humans cannot live this way. Employees are simply numbers and when management has made mistakes on the direction and the numbers don't look good by Q2, then the cutoffs begin. This is a horrible cycle and has not changed over the years. If work in an area that handles transactions and your job is based on that, find another place to work before your job is outsourced or automated.
Someone above mentioned Gloria is stone age as she does not support telecommuting, this is right. However, this is not isolated to Gloria, it also applies to Gallina and many senior leaders. Together they have managed to really screw up this place; promoting ruthless managers and people that have lost touch with the human element of the employer/employee relationship. Gloria will be in a nursing home before anthem realizes how dumb the offshoring strategy has been all these years. We will unfortunately continue to live with layoffs and the worse company culture in corporate America..

The amount of continuous layoffs at Anthem is amazing. I worked at Anthem for nearly 10 years and just assumed the constant dread of a pending layoff was just the standard way most companies work. In reality most places don't work this way, leaving this miserable abusive company was the best thing I could have ever done. It may look grim right now, but keep pushing forward, there's much better options out there.

Anthem is the only company I know that does layoffs regularly and since leaving I have not faced layoffs at any other organization. Anthem leadership needs to pull their head out of their arse and see how disloyal and unhappy this strategy makes employeees, which in turn impacts productivity.
I recently applied to a CS position. I’m trying to figure out why they are interviewing but laying off so many people. If hired should I expect to be let go after open enrollment is over?
Gloria comes across as an awful, uncaring leader when it comes down to leadership and employee relations. She’s in the Stone Age with telecommuting and shoving every job off shore as the solution to increase profits.
I anticipate more layoffs within the next 24 months. Sr leadership announced org changes and an initiative to speed up automation within GBD and other areas. If you couple offshoring and automation it will likely lead to more U.S. based layoffs.
