Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

When I was surplus'd last year (management), initially ahead of anything else, there were two very quick mass calls by our AVP. If you were part of the larger one, it was just a scripted reading that there were layoffs and you were not affected. If you were on the other call, with many fewer people, you were one that was "in the affected group". This wasn't 100% certain everyone on that call was definitely to be cut, but you know, they had to keep the drama for a while. Then on Monday morning, my area manager called me directly and told me I was tagged. The batch I was included with had a lot of peers in other groups that were hit as well. And so any possible team I could have gone to was not hiring. I set up searches and alerts on the internal boards but nothing came up. I did try though. Call Fidelity and get/confirm your NCS date. Call the AT&T Benefits Center and see what options you may have.

Management...Don't use accrued vacation. They have to pay you for those days. Also when I got hit last year I was in a ppo with payflex. They paid out full year on my dental bill in Februart and never came back for it. I didn't do anything for T during those 60 days. Just checked email every morning. Your manager may try to guilt you into transitioning your work....so sorry but you were told to use the 14 days to move on so tell them NO.
