Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

There is no leadership at ATT. Those at the controls are flying

The controls are flying blind in all aspects. They think they have some sway in the marketplace with their assets and it is not there. They are getting lapped by the likes of Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and once TMobile and Sprint synch up they are going to take it to ATT's wireless base. The so called leaders at ATT have this idea that they are a well respected global brand but the fact is customers hate ATT and everything about them. Billing, Bait and Switch, Hidden Charges, Monopoly, Customer Care. Who chases off the Mastermind of HBOs success because he didn't want to become Netflix and pump out mindless content but high quality productions. So instead of having a crown Jewell HBO they destroyed it to become a hack of a Netflix. ATT sees nothing but others backsides in the business races but tries to convince everyone that being a day late, dollar short, overpaying for assets, and racking up huge debt is a great strategy. Customers hate ATT, Wall Street Hates ATT, and employees hate ATT. They screw customers, shareholders, and employees.

I worked at At&T for 28 years. When I was forced to leave, I was the only person who actually delivered on financial commitments. All the remaining leaders delivered nothing. I am a middle aged white male. (Understand!?). They would rather dilute the leadership with incompetence, than to keep talent, if they thought it would help with PR . I can say first hand, there is very little talent that remains. Stankey is arrogant. Randall, irresponsible. All the rest are mindless little robots.

No next acquisition for a while. Right now they are getting Randy out. They will be busy with "re-organizing" and downsizing for as long as that will play. The next act will be to shed the under-performing businesses. After the steam runs out on that tactic then they will be on the acquisition trail again. Then the cycle starts over, merge, buy, hire, expand, reorg, layoff, merge, buy, hire, expand, reorg, layoff, rinse, repeat. It is a well known script that is used over and over again and it makes average non-observant people believe that the management actually has a clue. ** When you know your business you do your business, when you don't know your business you reorg, merge, buy, hire, expand, reorg, merge, run around in circles, etc, etc.. It's all a scripted business plan "Fail your way to success in upper management." Ed knew the business, Randy started as an accountant and his only experience was in the finance department, he never had a clue how to do a service utility business and still has no clue. The new regime might succeed but if they follow the same script it is doubtful.

You are certainly right about the collection center. NO educated leadership

The executives work for their own profit. They and their lackeys on the board could care less about the shareholders, the customer, and definitely the employees. As long as they can pull off this scam long enough to inflate their golden parachutes and no one does anything about it they really have no concerns about the eventual demise of this company.

At some point customers will say what happened to HBO and the answer will be that ATT bought them. Another nuclear bomb drop from ATT.
