Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What's going to be our next failed acquisiton?

With this many layoffs, there'll be plenty of money to spend on more companies that we can run into the ground. What will it be this time? Something media related? Streaming related? Or something completely new? With AT&T leadership, nothing would come as a surprise.

I know - why not hot air balloons? We have enough hot air around to float 10,000 at one time. We would be an instant success!!

Since so many of these Peloton-type companies are popping up, I think it's only a matter of time before T buys one of the losers. We will come up with a catchy name - something like "T-Mobileness" and we will bundle it with 5G and HBO Max under the advertising slogan: "Pump It, Beam It, Stream It."
There will be so many cross-marketing opportunities such as selling T-Mobileness apparel and having our executives do training videos - kinda like Legere's cooking videos. And after the company finds itself in financial trouble for vastly overpaying, we will run ads in the NY Times proudly declaring, "We May Be Broke, But We Are WOKE!

The big acquisitions are over for the foreseeable future. They are doing the bidding of Elliot Management now. Elliot called them out on all of their poorly timed and failed acquisitions. Look for businesses to be split off and or sold. DirecTV before end of year.

I think at&t should buy a shovel company since they are already in the business of producing sh*t.

It has been proven over and over again that AT&T knows more than anyone else in whatever type of business they buy. I am sure that the Execs at AT&T know more about retail stores than anyone else in the retail world. Why not buy Sears and show the world that AT&T can compete and beat Amazon’s yearly sales. It is prime time to buy Sears, because Sears Holdings filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Oct. 15, 2018, at which time it had 700 stores across the U.S., $6.9 billion in assets and $11.3 billion in liabilities. If the business fails there is always “Plan A” business as usual and layoff more employees to balance out the books

Who really cares? Since I have been with the company I have seen some many stupid decisions that make no sense. Long ago I heard this company was a great place to retire from. Now it’s a good company to put on your resume. It’s a stepping stone in life. There is life after att. Now you wanna see my baseball......

Something else completely outside of "core competencies"? If leadership even knows what that is any longer. Maybe ship-building? Oil drilling? You know, something the company knows nothing about, overpays for it, lets go of the people running that new acquisition, and then ruins and sells later at a fraction of what they paid...
